Last Meeting ( Oct 26, 2019 ) Chicago 0, Carolina 4

The Chicago Blackhawks are suddenly on a roll after an uneven start to the season and will be tested over a difficult eight-game stretch that begins against the visiting Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night. The Blackhawks have won four games in a row and earned at least a point in six straight (5-0-1) after knocking off Buffalo 4-1 on Sunday with a pair of goals from 18-year-old forward Kirby Dach.

“It’s nice to get on a little bit of a run here,” Chicago’s leading scorer Patrick Kane told reporters after scoring to extend his goal streak to six games and his point run to nine Sunday. “It’s something we’ve been waiting for all season. We play pretty well in these back-to-backs, so nice to put a little stretch together and feel good about our game. Obviously we’re getting production from all over the lineup right now, and I think that’s key if you’re going to go on some winning stretches.” The Blackhawks play Tampa Bay, Colorado and Dallas twice, reigning Stanley Cup champion St. Louis and Boston after taking on the Hurricanes, who have beaten them four straight times. Carolina has won three straight contests, including the past two in overtime after 19-year-old forward Andrei Svechnikov’s goal beat Minnesota 4-3 on Saturday. “I think over the last couple games here, we’ve shown no quit,” Hurricanes forward Brock McGinn told reporters. “I think we had a little bit of a lull there in the second period (Saturday). … so it’s just a good job there in the third and playing the right way to get the win.”

TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, FS Carolinas, NBCS Chicago

ABOUT THE HURRICANES (12-7-1): Svechnikov has three goals along with four assists during a four-game point streak to tie defenseman Dougie Hamilton for the team lead at 22 points and become the sixth teenager in NHL history with two career overtime winners. Left wing Teuvo Teravainen, who began his career with Chicago, has a goal and six assists during a five-game point streak and center Sebastian Aho scored three times in the past three contests to tie Hamilton and Svechnikov (nine) for the team lead. Goalie Petr Mrazek (9-3-1, .904 save percentage) is 2-2-1 with a .924 SP in six games against the Blackhawks.

ABOUT THE BLACKHAWKS (9-7-4): Dach, the third pick in last June’s draft, has made an impact with nine points and a plus-3 rating in his first 14 NHL games and scored four times with two assists in the past four contests. “He’s getting more comfortable with the league and he’s improving all the time,” coach Jeremy Colliton told reporters of Dach. “He looks under control out there and he makes plays.” Kane has eight goals to go along with nine assists during his point streak and leads the team with 26 points while captain Jonathan Toews is beginning to warm up with two goals and three assists in his past four contests.
