Toronto @ Vegas preview
T-Mobile Arena
Last Meeting ( Nov 7, 2019 ) Vegas 1, Toronto 2
The Toronto Maple Leafs aim to follow the lead of the Golden Knights and snap a five-game losing streak on Tuesday when the struggling teams meet at T-Mobile Arena. The Maple Leafs' troubles began after their 2-1 overtime victory over the Golden Knights on Nov. 7, which ignited Vegas' franchise high-tying five-game skid (0-4-1) that was halted Sunday.
Captain John Tavares scored 2:33 into overtime to lift Toronto past the Golden Knights nearly two weeks ago and had seven points (three goals, four assists) in a five-game stretch before being held in check in Saturday's demoralizing 6-1 setback to Pittsburgh. "No one is going to feel sorry for us," the 29-year-old Tavares said. "It's really on us in here to continue to work and figure out what we need to do to. It's looking yourself in the mirror and making sure you're giving everything you've got every day." Max Pacioretty is in the midst of a November to remember, as the 30-year-old scored Vegas' lone goal against the Maple Leafs and has six tallies and two assists in eight games. Pacioretty punctuated his torrid run by scoring a goal and setting up another in consecutive contests, including Sunday's 6-0 romp over Calgary.

ABOUT THE MAPLE LEAFS (9-9-4): Toronto expected more from Tyson Barrie than the six points that has he produced in 22 games this season after recording 59 with Colorado in 2018-19, but that doesn't mean the club is interested in parting ways with the offensive-minded defenseman. "I'm hearing Toronto's received calls on him," Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman said on Hockey Night In Canada's "Headlines" segment. "So far, they've rejected the idea, they don't want to trade him." The 28-year-old Barrie set up Jason Spezza's second-period goal on Saturday, marking just his second point in 19 games.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS (10-9-3): William Karlsson said he received the message loud and clear after Pacioretty was shuffled to his line with Reilly Smith three games ago. "It's a message, right? That it's not working with what we have right now," said the 26-year-old Karlsson, who boosted his point total to seven (four goals, three assists) in that stretch after collecting two goals and an assist against the Flames. Perhaps Paul Stastny and Mark Stone were sent messages as well, as the former's goal on Sunday accounted for his first point in nine games while the latter's tally marked the first time that he has dented the scoresheet in his last seven contests.
