The defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues spun out of an 0-1-2 stretch with a solid victory and try to keep the good times rolling when they host the struggling Calgary Flames on Thursday. St. Louis defeated 2018-19 Presidents' Trophy winner Tampa Bay 3-1 on Tuesday with a solid defensive effort and will try to hand Calgary its sixth straight loss.

"I just think we needed our game for a full 60 minutes," Blues center Oskar Sundqvist told reporters Tuesday after scoring his fourth goal of the season. "It was a while ago since we did that. It feels like tonight was finally the night where we were putting up our complete game for 60 minutes." Calgary has scored five goals and been shut out twice during its slide as it begins a four-game road trip after losing nine of its first 13 away from home this season (4-8-1). "I thought we were more engaged than in other games, but it's tough playing from behind all the time,'' Flames left wing Matthew Tkachuk told reporters after Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Colorado. "We've got to change that because this is a very, very, very important road trip for us, and we want to play better on the road." David Perron's goal 2:46 into overtime gave St. Louis a 3-2 victory over Calgary on Nov. 9 - the final piece to a season-high seven-game winning streak.

ABOUT THE FLAMES (10-11-3): Derek Ryan's fourth goal of the season came late in the second period Tuesday and snapped the club's scoreless streak at 167 minutes, 44 seconds. Travis Hamonic, who logs the third-most ice team on the team at 20:48, missed Tuesday's game with a lower-body injury. Tkachuk has a club-most 20 points and his 10 goals share the team scoring lead with Elias Lindholm, who hasn't scored in seven games.

ABOUT THE BLUES (13-4-5): Perron (nine goals) and O'Reilly (five), who hasn't scored in 11 home games, each have a club-high 20 points. Sundqvist, whose six shots Tuesday matched a career high, has recorded four of his eight points in the last five contests. Brayden Schenn has a team-most 11 goals while Jaden Schwartz (17 points) has two of his five goals and an assist in his last four games.

2. Calgary D Brandon Davidson and F Zac Rinaldo on Tuesday were recalled from AHL Stockton with Davidson replacing Hamonic and Rinaldo playing 6 minutes, 36 seconds in debuting with his fifth NHL club.

3. The Blues had the seventh-best power play in the league entering Wednesday despite going 1-for-14 in their last four games while the Flames boasted the fifth-best penalty-killing unit.
