Last Meeting ( Oct 12, 2019 ) Philadelphia 2, Vancouver 3

The Vancouver Canucks have answered seven losses in an eight-game stretch (1-5-2) with back-to-back victories to change the mindset of the upstart club. The Canucks aim to continue their ascent on Monday when they make the fourth stop on their six-game road trip with a visit to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Captain Bo Horvat scored the lone goal in the shootout after converting in the seventh round on Saturday as Vancouver skated to a 2-1 victory over Washington. The 24-year-old has four points (two goals, two assists) in his last five games overall and 13 of his 18 this season on the road for the Canucks. While Vancouver appears to be trending upward, Philadelphia has answered a season-high four-game winning streak by falling in five of its last six (1-2-3) after dropping a 3-2 shootout decision to Calgary on Saturday. Jakub Voracek recorded his 200th career goal after scoring for the first time in 13 contests for the Flyers, who have collected at least a point in 10 of 11 home games this season (6-1-4).

ABOUT THE CANUCKS (12-8-4): Vancouver sports a 12-2-2 mark in which reigning Calder Trophy recipient Elias Pettersson has dented the scoresheet. The 21-year-old Swede, who set up Brock Boeser's first-period tally in the Canucks' 3-2 shootout win against Philadelphia on Oct. 12, has collected four goals and as many assists in his past six games overall. Tanner Pearson scored in the second period and converted in the shootout of the first encounter with the Flyers and has six points (three goals, three assists) in his last six contests overall.

ABOUT THE FLYERS (11-7-5): Monday's tilt will have special significance for Kevin Hayes, who plans to wear a special blue suit jacket with the familiar lavender "I Fight For" sign honoring his parents stitched on the inside. "I think it's important that you have stuff like this. And for me, I can't wait," said the 27-year-old Hayes, whose father battled throat cancer while his mother was previously diagnosed with color cancer. Hayes has started to heat up on the ice, recording two goals and one assist in his last three games after failing to notch a point in each of his previous 10 contests.

OVERTIME

1. Philadelphia has scored more than three goals on just one occasion in its last nine games.

2. Vancouver has matched a franchise record by scoring its last seven goals while on special teams, with six coming via the power play and one while short-handed.

3. Flyers LW Oskar Lindblom, who has been held off the scoresheet in five of the last six games, scored one of his team-leading nine goals in the first meeting with the Canucks.

PREDICTION: Flyers 3, Canucks 2
