Last Meeting ( Sep 25, 2019 ) Los Angeles 0, Anaheim 2
The Anaheim Ducks don't appear to have much gas in the tank heading into their first installment of the Freeway Faceoff against the visiting Los Angeles Kings on Monday. The Ducks were shut out by Winnipeg in their last contest and have dropped 10 of their last 12 games (2-6-4).
Scoring woes have been a consistent theme this season for Anaheim, which resides in the lower third of the NHL by averaging just 2.63 goals per game and does not boast a 10-goal scorer on its roster. Captain Ryan Getzlaf, who shares the team's goal-scoring lead with Jakob Silfverberg (nine goals), saw his six-game point streak come to a halt following the shutout to the Jets. Los Angeles got the better of Winnipeg the following night to improve to 7-1-1 at home in November, although its 2-9-1 mark on the road for the season leaves plenty to be desired. The Kings better get acclimated to life on the road considering Monday's outing will start a stretch of 11 of their next 14 away from the Staples Center.

ABOUT THE KINGS (11-14-2): Dustin Brown enters Monday's tilt with a bit of momentum after recording his fourth point in four games (two goals, two assists) with an assist on Joakim Ryan's goal in the first period. Ryan's tally was his first since scoring for San Jose against Minnesota on Feb. 25, 2018. Nikolai Prokhorkin returned from being scratched in Los Angeles' previous two contests to score in the first period, boosting his point total to three (two goals, one assist) in his past four games.
ABOUT THE DUCKS (11-12-4): Anaheim is working with such a slim margin for error that nearly any misstep is magnified considering its struggles on offense. "It's tough," Silfverberg told reporters. "We are doing a lot of good stuff out there, but we make a bad play here or there and turn the puck over and it's in the back of our net." The 29-year-old Swede scored two goals and set up two others against the Kings last season.
