The Vancouver Canucks had some rocky moments during their recently concluded six-game road trip but still managed to come away with a split despite a pair of crushing defeats. The Canucks have also endured some shaky moments at Rogers Arena over the past four weeks and look to reverse the trend against the visiting Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night.

Vancouver opened a five-game homestand with a 3-2 loss to Edmonton on Sunday in the back end of a home-and-home, falling to 1-3-2 in its last six at Rogers Arena. "I thought we played really well after coming off a really tough road trip," captain Bo Horvat said after the loss to the Oilers, which came 24 hours after a 5-2 victory in Edmonton. The Senators have lost the first two of their five-game road trip and have scored a combined four-goals during a season high-tying four-game slide. Ottawa has lost 11 of 15 (4-10-1) away from home and dropped its last three against the Canucks, including a 7-4 rout in Vancouver in March.

ABOUT THE SENATORS (11-15-1): Defenseman Mark Borowiecki picked up an assist off the ice, telling reporters that he foiled a robbery attempt by clothes-lining a man on a bicycle who tried to steal a backpack from a vehicle. “I told him to give me the bag and he was telling me to get out of the way,” said Borowiecki, who wrestled the man to the ground and retrieved the backpack. Goaltender Craig Anderson is eligible to come off injured reserve Tuesday, but Anders Nilsson will start with Marcus Hogberg serving as his backup.

ABOUT THE CANUCKS (13-11-4): Vancouver will be without starting netminder Jacob Markstrom, who was granted a leave of absence to attend a memorial service for his father. That likely means a start for backup Thatcher Demko, who was blistered for seven goals -- six in the third period -- in an 8-6 loss at Pittsburgh in his last appearance. Josh Leivo has scored in back-to-back games and has "been trending upward," coach Travis Green said. "When he’s skating and hard on the puck, he’s a much different player, like anyone.”
