Dallas @ Arizona preview
Gila River Arena
Last Meeting ( Feb 9, 2019 ) Dallas 2, Arizona 3
The Dallas Stars are fighting to stay in playoff position and continue their push when they visit the Arizona Coyotes on Sunday. Dallas came out of the Christmas break with a 3-2 shootout victory over Central rival Colorado on Saturday and sits third in the division, four points behind the second-place Avalanche after winning for only the second time in its last five games.
"We're playing better hockey," Stars veteran forward Joe Pavelski told reporters after scoring in the shootout, making him 3-for-3 in the bonus format this season. "You can just feel it jumping over the wall. For us, it has to continue. It's one game. You have to build off of it now and we found a way to win. ..." Dallas forward Denis Gurianov has scored in three straight games while teammate Tyler Seguin also tallied Saturday and has five in his last five contests. Goals could be harder to come by Sunday as the Stars yield the second-fewest in the league at 2.49 with Arizona third at 2.52. The Coyotes lost at Vegas 4-1 on Saturday - their third setback in four games - and fell out of a first-place tie with the Golden Knights in the Pacific Division.
