Dallas @ New York preview
Madison Square Garden
Last Meeting ( Mar 5, 2019 ) NY Rangers 0, Dallas 1
The Dallas Stars had dropped four of six games and limped out to an all-too-familiar slow start before rallying to victory in the opener of their three-game road trip. The Stars aim to record back-to-back victories for the first time since winning six straight following the Christmas break when they visit the New York Rangers on Monday.
"We lost the 2-1 lead but battled back, and we need every point we can get. It's a great way to start a very tough month," Dallas interim coach Rick Bowness told reporters following his team's 3-2 overtime victory at New Jersey on Saturday. The Stars have been plagued by slow starts, however, as they have yielded the game's first goal in six straight contests and 10 times in their past 12. New York returns to Madison Square Garden after completing a home-and-home sweep of reeling Detroit with a 1-0 victory on Saturday. The Rangers, who are opening a four-game homestand on Monday, have outscored the opposition 34-20 while winning six of their last eight at MSG.

ABOUT THE STARS (29-18-4): Joe Pavelski picked a fine time to score his first goal in nine games, with his overtime winner moving him within one of joining five others on the team in double-digit tallies. "It's been different guys at different times. But it was great to see (Pavelski) score that one," said Tyler Seguin, who leads the team in assists (26) and points (37). Alexander Radulov, who shares the club lead in goals (15) with Roope Hintz, has mustered just one assist for his lone point in five career meetings with the Rangers.
ABOUT THE RANGERS (25-21-4): Mika Zibanejad reached the 20-goal plateau for the third straight season and fifth time in six campaigns on Saturday after scoring with the man advantage in his second consecutive contest. The 26-year-old Swede, who leads the team with nine power-play tallies, has recorded eight points (three goals, five assists) in his last five games. Fellow forward Chris Kreider extended his point streak to three games (two goals, two assists) by setting up Zibanejad's goal in the first period, but the former exited in the second after his head was inadvertently hit by the right knee of the latter.
