Last Meeting ( Feb 7, 2019 ) Anaheim 0, Ottawa 4

The Ottawa Senators host the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday in a game involving teams well out of playoff position who could be busy leading up to the Feb. 24 trade deadline. Anaheim general manager Bob Murray is reportedly ready to wheel and deal as his club enters full rebuild mode while Ottawa might not be as aggressive, but will also have an eye on the future in the form of acquiring prospects.

The Senators are 2-1-2 in their last five games after a 2-1 overtime loss at Toronto on Saturday - a good stretch considering they lost their previous nine games (0-5-4) - and own the fourth-worst record in the league. “It’s always that time of the year that we start hearing more things,'' Ottawa defenseman Thomas Chabot told reporters about trade rumors. "But as of now, the locker room is fine. ... What happens at the end of the month is going to happen. There’s nothing we can control. All we can control is what we do on the ice, and that’s what we’re trying to focus on toward the next couple games.” The Ducks, who are one point better than the Senators, have won four of their last six games after prevailing at Los Angeles 3-1 on Saturday but are 12 points out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. “I didn't think we had to do a total teardown,'' Murray told the media. "I still do not think we do. But I may have to go a little farther with some things than I thought we had to.”

TIME: 7:30 p.m. ET. TV: Prime Ticket, TSN5, RDS2

ABOUT THE DUCKS (21-26-5): Ryan Getzlaf is on a short list of names that will not be traded as the captain leads the club with 35 points. Rickard Rakell (31 points) has a goal and two assists in his last two games while Adam Henrique paces the team with 17 goals. John Gibson, who has alternated losses and wins in his last four starts, is 1-2-2 with a 1.90 goals-against average and .929 save percentage against Ottawa.

ABOUT THE SENATORS (18-24-10): Anthony Duclair, a candidate to be moved at the trade deadline, leads the club with 21 goals and 34 points but hasn't scored in his last 14 games. Connor Brown has 33 points and is three shy of his career high set with Toronto in 2016-17 while Jean-Gabriel Pageau (20 goals, 32 points) has missed the scoresheet in three of his last four contests. Mark Borowiecki has scored in two of his last three games and leads club blueliners with seven goals.

OVERTIME

1. Anaheim is 2-for-21 on the power play over its last 10 games.

2. Ottawa, which had the league's worst power play entering Monday at 14.5 percent, was 7-for-14 with the man advantage in five contests prior to going 0-for-3 against Toronto.

3. The Senators have won three straight meetings, including a two-game season sweep last season.

PREDICTION: Ducks 3, Senators 2
