Anaheim @ Toronto preview
Scotiabank Arena
Last Meeting ( Feb 4, 2019 ) Anaheim 1, Toronto 6
The Toronto Maple Leafs made a move to upgrade their back-up goaltending situation and the new acquisition could go right to work when they host the Anaheim Ducks on Friday. Toronto on Wednesday acquired Jack Campbell from Los Angeles after Michael Hutchinson was ineffective in five periods since No. 1 netminder Frederik Andersen was injured as the Maple Leafs fight for their playoff lives.
The club told the media that Andersen, who left Monday's 5-3 loss to Florida after one period with a neck injury and missed Wednesday's 5-3 setback to the Rangers in New York, is day-to-day. Toronto sits just outside playoff position in the Eastern Conference with Hutchinson yielding seven goals on 47 shots in the two appearances. Campbell, the 11th overall pick by Dallas in the 2010 draft, is 20-25-5 with a 2.58 goals-against average and .916 save percentage in 58 career games (50 starts). Anaheim lost at Montreal 3-2 in overtime Thursday after winning the first two contests of a five-game road string and is well out of playoff position in the West.
