Carey Price can scribble his name alongside Hall of Famer Jacques Plante as the all-time winningest goaltender in Montreal Canadiens' history on Tuesday, provided he emerge victorious in two battles. Price will need to overcome flu-like symptoms in order to vie for his 314th career win, which he hopes to secure as the Canadiens open a three-game trek against the Los Angeles Kings.
Price, who was held out of practice on Monday due to illness, was felled in his first attempt to pull even with Plante after yielding three goals in the opening nine minutes and four total on 24 shots in a 5-1 loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday. The 31-year-old Price permitted a pair of first-period tallies in a 3-0 setback to Los Angeles on Oct. 11, dropping his career mark against the team to 6-3-0. While Montreal has won just four of its last 10 contests to cling to the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, the Kings snapped a 10-game skid with a 6-3 victory versus Chicago on Saturday. Jeff Carter, who notched a pair of assists to move within one point of 700 for his career, scored a goal and set up two others in the first meeting with Montreal.

ABOUT THE CANADIENS (35-24-7): Assistant captain Brendan Gallagher scored in his third straight game on Saturday to push his team-leading goal total to 29, two shy of the career mark he set last season. Max Domi, who has club-best totals in assists (37) and points (59), has scored four goals and set up seven others in 14 career meetings with the Kings. While the 24-year-old Domi erupted for five points in Tuesday's 8-1 romp over Detroit, Jonathan Drouin had four assists in that contest to serve as the only time he has dented the scoresheet in the last 10 games.
ABOUT THE KINGS (24-33-8): Dustin Brown recorded his second multi-goal performance of the season by tallying twice against the Blackhawks, with his second goal accounting for the 276th of his career to pass Butch Goring for sixth place in franchise history. Ilya Kovalchuk, who registered a season high-tying eight shots on goal in the first meeting with Montreal, posted his seventh multi-point game of the season after collecting a goal and an assist versus Chicago. The 35-year-old Russian had been held off the scoresheet in eight of his previous 10 games.
