Toronto @ Edmonton preview
Rogers Place
Last Meeting ( Feb 27, 2019 ) Edmonton 2, Toronto 6
The Edmonton Oilers turned around their fortunes after a disastrous four-goal second period sent them tumbling to a 6-2 setback against the Toronto Maple Leafs last week. The Oilers vie for a bit of revenge as well as their season-high fifth straight victory on Saturday when they host the Maple Leafs in the second contest of a four-game homestand.
Leon Draisaitl scored in the first period of that Feb. 27 loss in Toronto and set up Zack Kassian's fourth goal in as many contests in Thursday's 3-2 win versus Vancouver to push his career-high point streak to 12 games (nine goals, nine assists). Captain Connor McDavid set up a pair of goals against the Canucks to give him at least a point in each of the last seven contests, a span that was interrupted by a two-game suspension. While Edmonton has posted a 6-1-2 mark in its last nine outings to remain within shouting distance of the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference, Toronto had won five of six before allowing a two-goal advantage to go by the boards in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime loss to Vancouver. Mitch Marner, who set up defenseman Ron Hainsey's short-handed goal in the second period to push his point streak to five games (three goals, eight assists), collected two goals and an assist against Edmonton last week.

ABOUT THE MAPLE LEAFS (41-21-5): John Tavares has four goals and six assists in his last eight games, including one of each in the first encounter with Edmonton. Fellow forward Andreas Johnsson has been held off the scoresheet in four consecutive contests since scoring twice in the recent outing with the Oilers. Veteran Patrick Marleau has 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in 17 games since the All-Star break and 12 (five goals, seven assists) in his last 15 games versus Pacific Division foes.
ABOUT THE OILERS (30-30-7): Like Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins tallied against the Maple Leafs as well as the Canucks to push his point total to a career-high 57, eclipsing his previous high set in 2013-14 and matched in 2014-15. Fellow forward Alex Chiasson scored for the second time in three games versus Vancouver to push his career-high goal total to 19, with 11 coming at home this season. Mikko Koskinen had fonder memories of Thursday's tilt that helped him reach the 20-win plateau as opposed to the one against Toronto last week, when he yielded four goals on 16 shots before being replaced by Anthony Stolarz.
