Dustin Jacoby doesn't have the best recent track record, but our UFC picks don't see him struggling against Dominick Reyes and his glass chin.

Dominick Reyes vs. Dustin Jacoby is the co-main event on this weekend’s UFC Fight Night card and one of our select events for UFC betting.

Reyes and Jacoby are both coming off defeats and desperately need to get back in the win column, however, years of punishing losses suggest Reyes may succumb to Jacoby’s striking ability.

UFC odds have installed Jacoby as a -240 favorite, with Reyes a +185 underdog. Here are my best free UFC Fight Night: Reyes vs. Jacoby predictions on June 8.

Reyes vs Jacoby prediction and pick

Fight analysis

Four years have passed since Reyes' controversial loss to Jon Jones propelled him into a spotlight that, in hindsight, was too bright for him.

He's lost all three fights since then by knockout and lacks striking resistance, as the good graces from the Jones effort are looking more like a mirage with each passing fight. He's now at the point where he's fighting for his UFC career against the division's toughest gatekeeper in Jacoby — a methodical kickboxer who is also looking to raise his stock.

Jacoby may not have the best record in his recent fights, but he's a reliable kickboxer who can turn it up when needed. There are some questionable losses on his resume, but Jacoby can sometimes get drawn into a brawl, resulting in him absorbing some punishing strikes that leave him reeling.

Azamat Murzankanov hurt him in a bad way in the second round of their fight, and Alonzo Menifield's pair of knockdowns resulted in his third defeat in five fights.

However, Jacoby's two wins have been first-round stoppages, and Reyes is basically a punching bag at this point. He took a bad loss to Jan Blachowicz after the Jones loss, but it was the vicious beating he absorbed from Jiri Prozchaka that might have broken him.

Ryan Spann put him out with a left hook in his last fight, and he had to pull out of a fight with Carlos Ulberg he likely would have lost as well.

With Reyes never shying away from a fight, he might feel more comfortable taking chances against Jacoby, who isn't at the level of power striker as the fighters who've beaten him over the last four years. Four years is a long time to get back on track, and fighters don't get a new chin or renewed damage thresholds.

With Reyes likely to fight the only way he's ever known, it shouldn't be long for Jacoby to hit his mark and get back in the win column as he delivers Reyes his fifth consecutive loss.

Best best analysis

Reyes comes into this fight with all heart, but unfortunately, that doesn't do his chin any good.

At his peak, Jacoby was one of the most technically sound kickboxers in the world, and he knows how to chain his offense together as well as being a decent finisher. Twelve of his 19 wins have come by knockout, and Jacoby should get a chance to show his power as Reyes’ poor chin and weakened damage resistance can’t sustain a full three rounds of repeated impact.

Jacoby will get his chance to tag the incoming Reyes right off the bat, but he’ll soften him up to the body and utilize stiff leg kicks to slow him to a crawl. Once he has a desperate and eager-to-exchange Reyes right in front of him, Jacoby will blitz in and lay him out, not unlike what we’ve seen in his last three fights.

Jacoby will put him to sleep, and Reyes will say goodnight to his career.
