UFC Fight Night Shara Magomedov vs Michael Page Predictions, Picks & Odds

Michael "Venom" Page may not be the more powerful of the two fighters in this spot, but his speed and crafty striking will give him an edge. Look for him to out-point Shara Magomedov in the co-main event of this UFC Fight Night event from Saudi Arabia.

Shara Magomedov faces off against Michael "Venom" Page in the co-main event for UFC Fight Night betting this Saturday afternoon.

This should be an exciting matchup between a pair of flashy strikers who prefer to keep things standing up. UFC odds have Magomedov as a -190 favorite with MVP coming back at +160. Here are my best Magomedov vs. Page predictions and free betting picks for February 1 from ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Magomedov vs Page prediction and best bet

Fight analysis

Although both of these fighters are dyed-in-the-wool strikers, this will be a clash of styles, and there are a few reasons to lean towards Michael Page at plus money.

Shara Magomedov has a perfect 15-0 record and is 4-0 in the UFC, but his resume is filled with cans. He couldn't even finish Bruno Silva (1-6 in his last seven) or Michał Oleksiejczuk (1-4 in his last five), and his best win came against an unranked Armen Petrosyan. Magomedov was pieced up by Petrosyan in the first round before catching him with a spinning attack late in the second.

Page has defeated plenty of high-caliber fighters in Bellator and proved that he could handle the big leagues by beating Kevin Holland in his UFC debut last March. He lost a decision to Ian Garry in his previous fight but that defeat has aged well since he was out-striking Garry, who is a legitimate welterweight contender.

While Page is moving up to middleweight for this fight, he has the frame for this weight class and his speed will be an even bigger advantage. This is a guy that was too quick for most opponents at 170 pounds, and that gap in speed will be more prominent at 185.

Magomedov has the edge in power but MVP will be faster and has a six-inch reach advantage. Shara is also hittable and will have a tough time figuring out Page's unorthodox movement and creative angles. Expect MVP to feint and set traps that the aggressive Magomedov will walk into.

Best bet analysis

I'm betting on Page to get the win but he'll have a tough time putting away the durable Magomedov.

While MVP racked up plenty of finishes against lower-tier opponents in Bellator, five of his last seven fights have gone this distance. Even when he does drop foes, he sometimes chooses to showboat instead of go in for the kill.

It's more likely that Page's elusiveness and his crisp counter-striking will lead to him outpointing Magomedov. That's a great value bet at nearly 3:1.
