The Las Vegas Aces are beginning to hit their stride and have the chance to avenge an early-season loss when they head to the ATL for a non-conference matchup with the Atlanta Dream.
The Aces are a high-scoring bunch and heavy WNBA favorites for tonight’s clash, and my picks are expecting a fast-paced game with both groups scoring an abundance of points.
Read on for my Aces vs. Dream predictions and WNBA picks for Friday, July 12.

Over 166.5 (-110 at Caesars)
My analysis
The Las Vegas Aces are beginning to turn the corner.
After a sluggish start, the Aces have won nine of their last 10 and are doing it in style as they’ve scored 84+ in each of their last five. They take to the road tonight, where they’ve averaged a whopping 89 points per game.
Chelsea Gray returning to the lineup nine games ago was the spark the Aces needed. She offers Vegas another facilitator who can get them a bucket when they need it, but what it mostly does is make the Vegas bench stronger.
That’s a good thing for Las Vegas because they haven’t played much in the way of defense. The Aces allow 84 points per night on the road, so scoring big is how they win games.
The Atlanta Dream are a different team than the one that beat Vegas on May 31. They’ve lost eight of their last 10, haven’t scored more than 82 points in any one game since June 19, and their defense has surrendered 85 points per night at home across their last five.
The lack of defense makes it difficult for Atlanta to win this game, but I believe they can get buckets against Vegas as the Aces have surrendered 81 points per game across their last five. They may get the big stop when they need to, but Vegas is a team that likes to outscore their opponents and they’ll accomplish that against Atlanta tonight.
Tonight’s pace will be electric, the lack of any real defense will be very apparent, and this game will end Over the number.
Aces vs Dream same-game parlay (SGP)
The numbers suggest a high-scoring affair, which is why I like the Over with Vegas scoring more than 90.5 points and for Atlanta guard Allisha Gray to score big.
The Aces have dropped 91+ in three of their last four clashes. They play fast-paced hoops and attempt the second-most triples in the W. The Dream defense has surrendered 85+ in two of their past four and 91+ twice since Howard was hurt on June 19.
Gray has scored 19+ in each of her last five and Atlanta would be in bigger trouble without her scoring. Gray is shooting 44% from the floor and 39% from downtown. Her high usage rate means she has her scoring destiny in her own hands, and the Aces backcourt aren’t the best defenders.
