The Los Angeles Sparks will look to build on perhaps their biggest win of the year as they welcome the Atlanta Dream to Crypto.com Arena tonight.
With the lowly Atlanta Dream in town, my Dream vs. Sparks predictions are expecting L.A. to continue its strong form of play. Find out more in my WNBA picks for September 1.

My analysis
It wasn’t surprising to me the Los Angeles Sparks were able to cover a huge line against the Liberty this week, but coming away with the win was another story entirely. Los Angeles has been the worst team in the WNBA in terms of both record and point differential this year but had enough to catch a title favorite napping.
That makes tonight's game look like a manageable task for the Sparks.
The Atlanta Dream put themselves in a position to make the playoffs coming out of the Olympics break, but they've dropped four straight to fall to ninth in the league.
The Dream have been the worst offensive team in the Dub, averaging only 75.9 ppg. Even their slow pace doesn’t fully explain this, as they're also last in the WNBA in offensive rating (95.2) and effective field goal percentage (45.2%).
Atlanta does have talent, but it shows mostly on the defensive end. Allisha Gray (16.0 ppg), Rhyne Howard (15.9 ppg), and Tina Charles (14.6 ppg) are all capable two-way players but haven’t had enough support to hang with most of the league’s playoff contenders.
The Sparks aren’t an offensive juggernaut either, but Dearica Hamby (17.9 ppg) is a true star who can give anyone fits, as she did in scoring 21 points against the Liberty on Wednesday.
L.A.’s problem has been on the defensive end, where its 105.9 defensive rating ranked 10th of the 12 WNBA teams. The Sparks are allowing 86.4 ppg on the season, but that’s less of a problem against Atlanta, which hasn’t scored more than 83 points in any of its last 19 games.
That lack of scoring punch will make it hard for the Dream to put away the Sparks tonight. Atlanta has lost four straight and now faces a team that has covered four of its last five games.
At home, Los Angeles will have a chance to win again on Sunday and certainly should be in this one until the final moments in what should be a low-scoring game.
Dream vs Sparks same-game parlay (SGP)
The Sparks are my main pick tonight, but I’m also a fan of the Under in this matchup. Both teams have played slightly towards the Under this season, and the Dream are one of the slowest-paced teams in the WNBA, which should keep the score Under the total tonight.
My final SGP pick is for Dearica Hamby to hit the Over on her scoring total of 15.5 points. Hamby went through a period where she wasn’t scoring to her potential, but she’s now coming off two consecutive 21-point games, shooting 67%.
Hamby is averaging 17.9 ppg on the year, and should be considered a significant favorite to get to 16 or more tonight.
