Fever vs Wings Predictions, Picks & Odds for Today’s WNBA Game

Kelsey Mitchell has been lighting the league on fire since returning from the Olympic break, and Dallas doesn't have the facilities to put an end to her run.

Two of the highest-scoring teams in the WNBA meet this afternoon when the Indiana Fever and Dallas Wings tangle for the second time this season.

These two groups combined for 193 points in their previous meeting and oddsmakers are expecting more of the same today.

I'll explain why that's good news for Kelsey Mitchell's points prop in my Fever vs. Wings predictions and WNBA picks for September 1.

Fever vs Wings predictions

My best bet
Kelsey Mitchell Over 20.5 points (-110 at bet365)

My analysis
The total for this game is still rising, and we should expect a fast-paced and possibly explosive scoring afternoon today when the Indiana Fever and Dallas Wings square off for the second time this season.

The Fever are the talk of the second half, and rightly so: they're 5-1 since the Olympic Games break, but Indiana might not have been as successful without the scoring of guard Kelsey Mitchell.

Mitchell leads the Fever in scoring and thrives in fast-paced affairs. The former Ohio State Buckeye benefits from playing alongside Caitlin Clark. While Clark draws most of the defensive attention, Clark has become adept at passing out of the double-team, and Mitchell has been on the receiving end of 60+ of Mitchell’s 210+ made baskets.

The Wings play at a frenetic pace, and this is the type of environment Mitchell and Clark thrive in. Dallas has allowed the most points per game since the break (93) and doesn’t defend inside (47%) or outside the arc (34%).

That should open the door for Mitchell. She’s an exceptional cutter and is draining 52% from the floor and 43% from downtown across her last six games. Mitchell has scored 21+ in all six of her games since the break and should clear 21+ today.

Caitlin Clark pick: Buckets keep coming

My best bet
Caitlin Clark Over 20.5 points (-130 at bet365)

My analysis
While Mitchell has a great scoring opportunity today, so does Fever guard Caitlin Clark.

Clark has come out of the second-half gates firing, scoring 23+ in four of her six games since the break, and she'll thrive against a Dallas group playing at a faster pace than even she does.

Dallas plays uber fast and doesn’t defend well from anywhere, and that doesn’t bode well for the Wings today. Across the previous six games, Clark is looking for her shot more often and is draining buckets from everywhere — knocking down 47% of her shots from the field and 37% of her attempts from downtown.

Clark has cleared 23+ in four of her last six. The Wings are the worst defensive team in the league since the break, and while Dallas will try all sorts of schemes to slow her down, the fire in her eyes has returned since the break.

Fever vs Wings same-game parlay (SGP)

Kelsey Mitchell 20+ points

Caitlin Clark 20+ points

Arike Ogunbowale 20+ points

I like the Fever guards going off today and I also expect Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale to show out as well.

Ogunbowale is the W’s second-leading scorer, and she’s been on fire since the break. She’s cleared 20+ in four of her six tilts since the break on 44% shooting from the field and 33% from downtown.

The Wings All-Star has an excellent chance for another big scoring day against a Fever backcourt, allowing 42% shooting from inside and 36% from downtown since the break.
