Lynx vs Fever Predictions, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

Caitlin Clark's offensive game is generational, but her defensive game has more holes than mesh. Kayla McBride might get lit up, but she'll get hers too.

The Minnesota Lynx hit the road as slight away favorites on September 6, looking to win their season series against the Indiana Fever.

My Lynx vs. Fever predictions expect Kayla McBride to take full advantage of Indiana's leaky perimeter defense. Find out more in my WNBA picks ahead.

Lynx vs Fever predictions

My best bet
Kayla McBride Over 2.5 threes (-105 at bet365)

My analysis
The Minnesota Lynx and Indiana Fever have been the top two teams since the Olympic break, and they’ll meet tonight in the rubber game of their three-game season series.

The backcourt of Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark has been tough to stop on the offensive end of the floor, but their perimeter defense leaves much to be desired.

Since the break, Indiana has allowed the most attempts from downtown (27.5) on a 10th-worst 37% clip. The Fever guards like to leave their opponent at the perimeter to chase defensive boards, leaving the perimeter unguarded, and those wide-open looks they allow can be a boon for a shooter like Lynx guard Kayla McBride.

McBride is one of the best 3-point shooters on the planet and benefits heavily from the Lynx’s incredible ball movement. Minnesota leads the WNBA in assists per game (23), and its ability to make the extra pass has led to open looks for McBride and the other guards.

McBride is knocking down a career-high 41% of her seven triple attempts from downtown. She’s failed to drain 41% in half of her eight games since the break, but she went 4-from-10 from downtown in the last game against Indiana and should again tonight.

Caitlin Clark pick: Hot hand stays hot

My best bet
Caitlin Clark Over 20.5 points (-118 at FanDuel)

My analysis
Caitlin Clark has taken the WNBA by storm, and she’s been on fire since her supposed Team USA snub.

She's cleared 21+ points in seven of her nine games since and has a great chance to do it again tonight. Minnesota plays exceptional team defense, but its guards aren’t the best defenders. Since the break, the Lynx backcourt has allowed 44% shooting from inside the arc and 35% from downtown, and Clark can exploit that.

The secret to Clark’s big scoring is pace. The faster the pace, the more Clark scores. The last time these groups met, the pace was far slower than usual, and Clark scored 23. That was an aberration for the Fever as Indiana plays much faster at home, which should fuel another big scoring night for the prodigy herself.

Lynx vs Fever same-game parlay (SGP)

Kayla McBride Over 2.5 threes

Caitlin Clark Over 20.5 points

Aliyah Boston 3+ assists

Fever forward Aliyah Boston is one of the best young players in the WNBA. She’s more known for getting buckets and boards, but she's also an accomplished passer out of the double team.

Minnesota likes to double the block, and Boston has become more than a willing passer. She catches the ball down on the block and, rather than fighting through the double team, usually finds a cutting Mitchell or a wide-open Clark from downtown.

That’s led Boston to dish three or more dimes in six of the Fever’s last eight games.
