If it weren't for the Connecticut Sun and their perfect 9-0 start, the Minnesota Lynx would be the talk of the WNBA as they sit atop the Western Conference.

My Lynx vs. Mercury predictions for tonight's contest have plenty of points being scored with two offenses who can get hot from beyond the arc.

Find out more in my WNBA picks for Lynx vs. Mercury on Friday, June 7.

Lynx vs Mercury predictions

My best bet
Over 161.5 (-114 at Pinnacle)

My analysis
The Minnesota Lynx have won their seven games this year by an average of 15.8 points. When they win, they win big, and it's thanks in large part to play at both ends of the court. Just one look at the metrics, and you'll see why the Lynx are blowing away the competition.

The Lynx rank second in points (86.3), and first in field goal percentage, three-point FG%, assists, steals, and true shooting percentage. This is what we call a well-oiled offense.

They've got four players averaging double figures, led by Napheesa Collier and her 21.8 points per game. Collier has taken her game to the next level and is among the favorites in the WNBA MVP odds race.

So how does that factor into tonight's contest vs. the Phoenix Mercury? Well, glad you asked.

The Mercury are stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. They've dropped five of six and the offense has cooled off after a hot start, particularly Kahleah Copper, who is now down to 22.5 points per game.

Despite that, the Mercury still push the ball up and down the floor at every opportunity and they aren't afraid to let fly from beyond the arc. They rank second in three-point attempts (9.9) and third in make percentage at 33%.

You know who else is good at hoisting up triples and knocking them down? The Lynx.

If the Mercury continue to run, the Lynx offense is well-equipped to go up and down the floor and play in a high-scoring game.

Throw in the fact that the Mercury own the third-worst defensive rating in the league, I see this game being played in the 170s.

Lynx vs Mercury same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 161.5

Kayla McBride Over 2.5 threes

Kahleah Copper Over 2.5 threes

If we are going to connect on the Over 161.5, then we need some players to catch fire from beyond the arc.

Kayla McBride is one of the best three-point shooters in the league, sitting fourth in three-point make percentage at .459. She's a volume shooter, and in a game that I believe will be uptempo, she'll have plenty of opportunity to fire away, and connect.

As for Copper, I mentioned she's cooled down since a hot start, but she's taken at least six triples in each of her last three games and has gone over this total twice.
