Mercury vs Sparks Predictions, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

The Los Angeles Sparks have stunk up the joint this season, but Rickea Jackson provides a glimmer of hope for the future. She also provides a competent scoring hand.

The Phoenix Mercury look to gain momentum ahead of the playoffs, and they meet a struggling Los Angeles Sparks group amidst a seven-game losing streak.

Rickea Jackson has been the lone bright spot for L.A. this season, and my Mercury vs. Sparks predictions explain why you need to back the rookie to go Over her points total tonight. Read all about it in my WNBA picks for September 17.

Mercury vs Sparks predictions

My best bet
Rickea Jackson Over 16.5 points (-114 at FanDuel)

My analysis
The Los Angeles Sparks have seen better days.

They’ve lost many to injuries, including the No. 2 pick Cameron Brink, but one rookie the Phoenix Mercury won’t want to deal with is Rickea Jackson.

Jackson has been a decent scorer for most of this season, and she's averaging a shade under 18 points across her last 10 with a 47/46/85 shooting line. RJ has improved offensively with every game, and she’s become more fearless as the season nears the end.

Jackson takes the rock to the cup more often than before, and when a lane isn’t there, she’s more than capable of hitting from mid-range and downtown.

The L.A. rookie has scored 17+ in three of her last four, and the mediocre Mercury stop unit won’t keep a red-hot Jackson from scoring 17+.

Mercury vs Sparks same-game parlay (SGP)

Rickea Jackson 17+ points

Mercury moneyline

Under 162.5

Phoenix has comfortably won all three meetings with Los Angeles this season, and I expect it to win number four. The Sparks have lost 13 of their previous 14 and four straight at home.

Each of the three previous meetings has ended Under the total, and these groups are two of the lowest-scoring teams since the Paris break.
