The WNBA playoffs kick off this weekend, but final standings still need to be set as we head into a decisive Tuesday night of action.

Meaningful matchups litter the slate, and I look at how three veterans will fare in my WNBA picks for September 17.

Prop bet #1: Tina Charles Over 11.5 rebounds

The Atlanta Dream have a golden opportunity to move into pole position for the final playoff spot tonight, with Tina Charles set for a busy outing against a banged-up Chicago Sky frontcourt.

Charles dragged the Dream to a must-have overtime win on Sunday against the Washington Mystics, tallying 20 points and 10 rebounds. I expect an even better stat line from the veteran here.

Charles has pulled down 12 or more boards in four of her past six contests, and Chicago is vulnerable around the basket without the injured Angel Reese.

Though the Sky poured in 88 points last time out, their offense had been ice-cold recently, including a 58-point dud against the Mystics. With Atlanta locked in defensively here — given this is essentially a play-in game — I don’t trust Chicago to score consistently.

The Sky shoot just 43% from the field, the second-worst mark in the league, while the Dream rack up the third-most rebounds per game.

Charles is a big reason for Atlanta still being in postseason contention, and I predict another strong game on the glass.

Prop bet #2: Nneka Ogwumike Over 17.5 points

-122 at FanDuel

The Seattle Storm will likely see the Las Vegas Aces in Round 1, and we get a sneak preview of that matchup tonight.

It’s been a turbulent week for the Storm, with Jewell Loyd sidelined by knee soreness and Ezi Magbegor in the concussion protocol. While both should be good to go in the playoffs, it’s the Nneka Ogwumike show in the meantime.

Ogwumike will be the clear No. 1 option again here, and she thrived in said role against the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday, racking up 23 points on 10-for-16 shooting.

I’m wagering Ogwumike’s weekend scoring spree has woken her up from an otherwise underwhelming month, and she’s in line for at least 15 field goal attempts.

Seattle will look for her early and often to keep pace with a potent Las Vegas offense, and in many ways, this is a volume play. It also helps Ogwumike is shooting 41% from downtown this year — a major bounce-back from 2023.

Prop bet #3: Kayla McBride Under 13.5 points

-114 at FanDuel

The Minnesota Lynx’s balanced offense has been a major spark all year, allowing Kayla McBride to slide into a supporting role.

The high-flying Lynx have Napheesa Collier as the No. 1 option, Bridget Carleton led all scorers against the New York Liberty on Sunday, and Courtney Williams is thriving as an underrated offensive force. That’s left McBride with limited touches on some nights, including over the weekend, where she took just seven shots.

McBride has fallen short of this number in four of her past five games. She’s still shooting 41% from downtown, but her accuracy has taken a hit over the past seven games (hitting 13 of last 38 triples).

A fiery Connecticut Sun defense allowing 74 points per game is another reason to pick the Under, with opponents only averaging 31% on 3-pointers.
