Best WNBA Player Props for 9-11: Best Bets for A'ja Wilson, Julie Vanloo & Dearica Hamby

A'ja Wilson is on a path of destruction this season, leaving defenses shaking in their boots. Expect her to dominate Indiana for the third time in 2024.

There are three games in the Dub on September 11, meaning plenty of options in the WNBA player props market.

I’m going to target one player from each game in my WNBA picks, focusing on the dominance of A’ja Wilson, the 3-point shooting of Julie Vanloo, and the scoring prowess of Dearica Hamby.

Today's best WNBA player props bets

Prop bet #1: A'ja Wilson Over 27.5 points

+100 at FanDuel

A’ja Wilson is well on her way to winning her third MVP award. The WNBA’s most unstoppable offensive weapon is averaging a league-best 27.3 points per game while also putting up 11.9 rebounds and collecting 2.7 blocks on the defensive end.

Wilson hasn’t been slowing down late in the season as the Las Vegas Aces look to improve their playoff seeding. She's scored at least 30 points in three of her last five games, and has proven to be especially prolific against teams that don’t have the size or defensive discipline to force the ball out of her hands.

The Indiana Fever fit that bill. The guard-focused Fever have improved around Caitlin Clark, and Aliyah Boston gives them a true post presence that should physically be able to handle the Vegas center.

However, that hasn’t been the case in actual practice, where Wilson has had her way with Indiana in previous meetings: games scoring 28 and 29 points, respectively, on highly efficient shooting.

Indiana remains one of the worst defensive teams in the WNBA, with its defensive rating of 107.1 ranking ahead of only the Dallas Wings. Las Vegas scores more than any team in the league, and with both teams loving to play at a fast pace, Wilson will get plenty of touches.

Prop bet #2: Julie Vanloo Over 1.5 threes

-122 at FanDuel

Veteran guard Julie Vanloo hasn’t been a leading offensive weapon for the Washington Mystics, but she has given them an important weapon nonetheless with her occasional 3-point shooting — something that’s been effective enough for opponents to respect and stretch the floor for.

Vanloo is 32.7% from beyond the arc this season, but she’s been picking up the volume as of late. The sharpshooter has hit two or more long balls in her three previous outings, averaging over 42% from deep during the stretch.

Even if that sample size is too small for you, it’s clear Vanloo will get opportunities to shoot. The 31-year-old has taken a minimum of three shots from 3-point range in every Mystics game this season, a rare level of consistent volume from a player who only scores 7.7 ppg.

In total, Vanloo averages 5.8 shots from the arc per game, making nearly two per night.

The Chicago Sky aren’t a team that defends threes notably well, being around average in most defensive metrics. That’s enough for me to bet on Vanloo to keep up her streak of making multiple shots from deep tonight.

Prop bet #3: Dearica Hamby Over 13.5 points

+100 at BetMGM

Dearica Hamby has been one of the few bright spots in a lost season for the Los Angeles Sparks. The 30-year-old forward is averaging 17.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game and has done a great job keeping the Sparks in games as much as possible this year, even helping to spring a few huge upsets.

Hamby’s scoring prop tonight has been set well below her season average. That may be because she’s had two games in a row where she scored 12 points or less and has been held below that mark in five of her last nine games. However, there’s some context to that streak that needs to be examined.

Three of those low-scoring games came against the Connecticut Sun, and another was against the Mystics — the two best teams in the league when it comes to limiting opponents from scoring in the paint. Hamby isn’t a scorer on the level of Wilson who can simply overpower the league’s best defenders.

She can, however, score against teams that don’t have the post presence to stop her. That includes Seattle, which is allowing 37.3 points per game in the paint, the third-most of any WNBA team. Hamby scored at least 15 points in each of her two meetings with the Storm this season and will again tonight.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
