Sparks vs Storm Predictions, Picks, Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

The Storm just got wallopped, and while they should find a get-right spot tonight, our WNBA picks aren't convinced they should be favored over the Sparks by this much.

After their six-game win streak came to a crashing halt in Minnesota, the Seattle Storm try to bounce back when they host the L.A. Sparks Tuesday night.

After a 2-7 start, L.A. may have found its footing, stringing together its first back-to-back wins on the year.

Still, they’re pegged as hefty 10.5-point underdogs in the WNBA odds, which my Sparks vs Storm predictions think is a tad too high.

Check out my WNBA picks for this June 11 clash.

Sparks vs Storm predictions

My best bet
Sparks +10.5 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis

The Los Angeles Sparks’ first three wins of the year came against three of the worst teams in the league, beating the winless Mystics, the Indiana Fever, and Dallas Wings — the only teams below them in the standings.

But last time out, L.A. picked up a win over the defending champions, downing the Las Vegas Aces 96-92, its first win over a .500 team this season.

L.A. put up a season-best in points, a big jump for a team that ranks ninth in the W in scoring at 77.9 points per game.

That defense still has some cleaning up to do though, ranking Bottom 4 in both field goal and 3-point shooting D. And they’re visiting a team that’s probably not in a great mood.

That’s because the Seattle Storm were crushed in Minnesota, taking their worst loss of the season in an 83-64 thumping.

Following back-to-back losses to them to start the year, it’s Seattle’s third straight loss to the Lynx, while going 7-1 against the rest of the schedule.

The Storm are a Top-5 scoring unit in the league, powered by the top rebounding numbers in the W, averaging better than 38.1 boards.

Seattle also does much damage inside, putting up 39.1 paint points, the third-most in the association.

This will be the first of four meetings between these teams, after splitting their 4-game set a year ago. The margin of victory was single digits in three games.

Seattle averages 83.9 points per game against non-Minnesota competition, with a plus-10.9 point differential. This is their lone home game in a stretch of six games, so the message should be to get right before heading back on the road for three. A win should be in the cards.

However, L.A.’s recent body of work against the Storm and this little juice they’ve built up should keep them within striking range Tuesday night.

Sparks vs Storm same-game parlay (SGP)

Sparks +11.5

Jewell Loyd Over 22.5 points

Kia Nurse Under 9.5 points

On this SGP, we’ve been able to up the total another point, and the juice stays strong.

For Seattle, Jewell Loyd has been on a nice scoring streak, scoring 25 points in her last two games, and topping 20 points three times in the last four.

Loyd has a nice 22.5 scoring line set for Tuesday, and this one feels like a no-brainer. She’s the Storm’s go-to scoring option, as evidenced by her 18.9 shot attempts per game, a Top-3 mark in the W.

She also cruised by this number in all four games against the Sparks last season, scoring at least 25 points in each contest.

We’ll wrap with ex-Storm and current Spark Kia Nurse. The Canadian has hit a scoring wall of late, scoring a total of 13 points in her last three games, including a zero in a win over Dallas.

Over that span, Nurse has shot just 4-for-20, a lowly 20% clip, and her minutes have been shaved, with 18 or fewer minutes of game time over the last three.

We’ll ride the Under as the Sparks may have her limited again.
