Wings vs Storm Predictions, Picks, & Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

The Seattle Storm have won seven consecutive games at Climate Pledge Arena and will also look for their third straight victory over its Western Conference rival Dallas Wings. 

Neither head coach was happy with how their respective defenses performed in Seattle's 21-point victory on Saturday night, and my Wings vs. Storm prediction expects each defense to step up tonight.

My analysis

The Dallas Wings and Seattle Storm meet tonight for the second time in three days and the third battle this season.

The first two meetings have gone Seattle’s way, handily winning both encounters. The Storm are favored by the same -11.5 points tonight they were on Saturday. Seattle won that tilt by 21 points and the first meeting in Dallas by a dozen, so it's not hard to envision them winning tonight’s clash as well.

As is its custom, Dallas surrendered too many points from turnovers (23) and couldn’t defend inside the paint (48) during Saturday's blowout loss. Those numbers were well above its 12th-best stats in both categories and, sadly for the Wings, those two key statistical issues are exactly what fuel the Storm.

Based on each coach's post-game presser, I expect defense and better ballhandling to be each team's focal point. We should anticipate both sides to handle the rock better after combining for 34 miscues on Saturday. Better ballhandling by Dallas will limit the Storm's elite transition game, which should slow down their scoring production.

Stingier defense will be at the fore for both groups tonight, and Seattle won’t make it easier for Arike Ogunbowale to drain 6 of 10 from downtown like she did Saturday. I see each defense responding to its coach's post-game pleas, and this game ends Under the number as a result.

The Under is my best bet because I expect the Seattle defense to stymie Dallas and that will also lead to an Under for the Wings team total and allow the Storm to cover.

According to Saturday’s post-game presser, Seattle head coach Noelle Quinn hopes the Storm focuses on slowing down Ogunbowale and if they do, it will be Seattle’s fourth consecutive game holding opponents to fewer than 79 points.

Seattle is 5-0-0 ATS across its last five home games and while it may not win by 20+, it should be able to cover against a Dallas side with a 1-4-0 ATS mark and double-digit losses across four of its last five away battles.
