Floyd actually said this after the fight
""I'm going to continue to fight the best. Shane Mosley is a helluva a fighter and I am going to keep on fighting the best."

Its only 1 game

the Devils on the other hand were embarrasingly bad. I dont know maybe they can hire Mike Haviland (NJ guy) from your Chicago staff. I dont want Ken Hitchcock. Maybe they give John MacLean a shot.

Listen, I was on SSM because of the price and the fact the Devils is right Floyd fought nobody in their prime in his career. Do I think SSM is in his prime or better then Floyd? absolutely not. But, I thought it would be intriguing to see Floyd fight a real contender. The price sucked me in and yet im still not upset. SSM had Floyd in round 2 and it looked like it may be over quick. For some reason Shane was winded. He was breathing from his mouth from the end of the second round. Very odd from a usually highly trained fighter. I dont know if he was overtrained going through two training camps, or the occassion got to him. He seemed to tight to throw and it was draining on his endurance. Pretty sad because he had Floyd in the second and just never fought the rest of the fight. Very odd. BTW  IMO Floyd will KO Pacman in a very easy career clinching and ending fight for PBF.

njdevils, you are right , very few in this forum seem to care much for mayweather or his brashness you must tip your cap to him tho,,not his fault mosley is a washed up former roid user who had nothing left after only 2 rounds (6 quick minutes)

Amazing how easy it is to forget that Mosley was at the top of any credible welterweight rankings before this fight.

Floyd is the naturally most gifted fighter of his generation. I am not a fan of the guy as a person, but right now as a boxer he is second to none. There will always be haters but Floyd is simply awesome..

I agree 100 % , people need to separate the two Floyd's outside of the ring and inside.

To me I believe no one adapts better DURING a fight than Floyd, he sees what you have for the first 1-2 rounds.. and then adjusts., to me that is not just a sign of a champion but greatness.

Again I'm not a Floyd Fan outside the ring but inside my MONEY will be on MONEY.

People also need to see the whole "bad guy image" Floyd is doing it's to sell a damn fight because people disliked his defense style first mentality.

People can keep making excuses of saying why is isn't the best living boxer- at the end of the day he cashes the checks .,. for the bettor and himself.. and many considered Shane to beat HIM or at least a very tough fight.

There are no excuses, Shane didn't get old over night.. Floyd neutralized him after the second.. and you saw what  counter punching is.

I said in many posts, Mosley doesn't have a real "jab" he flicks it trying to land an over right over and over.

NO one can say it was age, this is the same guy who destroyed Margarito so give credit where credit is due, fans wanted this fight if  the Pac-man fell through (myself included).

The stage has been set, simple blood and urine.. and you have a fight.

Pac-man publicly ducked Mosley.. now after this fight what excuse does he have will he now fight now a battered Shane Mosley and KO him in 5 rounds and say "I did it faster than Floyd did"- or finally take a real fight.

If this fight happens (which it won't) Floyd will retire after that fight.

Remember boxing is our hobby and wagering sometimes.. but it's their CAREER you would make as most as you can in your career also.

                                     

Floyd is a great fighter but you have to admit he has ducked higher quality opponents over his career as a couple people said in this post...

NJ its nothing to do with Mosley's age. In my write-up for the fight, I questioned Mosley's big fight temperment. When you are feeling enormous pressure your body can react to it in different ways. The muscles tense up and you can't move the way you want or get off your shots the way you would hope.

I remember fighting for the first time in my amateur national championship when I was 16. I could not have been fitter. I remember how nervous I was heading to the ring. I couldn't sleep the night before with all the nervous energy and by the time I got the ring I felt like there was weights in my boots. It was only a 3 round fight and I felt like I went 15!

Now I am not Sugar Shane! and he should not have been effected with this experience and class, but I honestly believe the whole build-up and occasion got to him (just like Floyd Snr said it would, he said Mosley would be twiching) and that is why he gased. I think the same thing would have happened him 10 years ago.

But I also think that the stagmina issues that I saw in SSM last 3 fights simply caught up with him. PFM gets all credit. Look at SSM last 3 fights (forget about the outcomes) watch his tactics.....he is drained in those fights very early.  Now look at PFM last 3 fights and look at the opposing fighters.....they are drained. Fighting a fast and ultra quick PFM is draining.....just listen ODH in his post fight interview, look at JMM (he said weight and speed was the problem) and Rick H. said he does so many things ....he made me work........

NJ To answer your question he fought Ricky Hatton at his peak, and if you're a man of any sense he would have easily beaten Cotto, and Margarito. Just because fighters get exposed when they fight Floyd doesn't mean they aren't quality fighters. Manny gets his credit when he drains the same fighters, why shouldn't Floyd? I'm with Devils here. Miguel Cotto would have destroyed Ricky Hatton past, present or future. Hatton was seriously over rated. Besides Kostya Z who he out wrestled for 12 rounds, the guy beat no one. The best way to rate Hatton is to watch the Luis Collazo fight. That is Ricky's level. He belongs with the Mallagaggi, Juan Diaz, Collazo's, Andre Berto's, Junior Witters of this world (i.e barely world class).

You put in the ring against Cotto, Mosley, Marquez, even Timothy Bradley/Devon Alexander he loses and loses easy.

You know just the way Mosley acted in the fight with mayweather makes you wonder if not being on some kinda shit hurt him. I never seen him get gassed like that. He acted like it was hard for him to move at all. I would have thought floyd could have went for the KO. What the hell was he waiting for? There were times they acted like they were best buddies. I kinda agree with the NJ devil that floyd looks for easy money and won't fight anyone in their prime. Why not make the williams fight? Because williams has a chance there. He should stand toe to toe with williams. Actually martinez showed that williams can be hurt. But floyd don't want none of that.
