It looks like it'll be Taylor in a decision. Goint to the 12th and he's up at least 5 or 6.
Pretty boring fight overall
Very boring, any other top 5 middleweight in the world would have stopped Spinks. Hell, Zab did at 147. Taylor drops another notch, why he showed respect tonight for a guy who can't hurt a fly is beyond me.
I hope they give the decision to the ref, because neither guy deserves it. Pavlik takes Taylor, I'm convinced.

"Early indications are that Dick Flaherty's actual card was 117-111 Spinks not 111-107. On the basis of that I think it is safe to say that he should never be allowed to judge a major fight again." Lampley

3.5 units on Jermain Taylor (-350) vs Cory Spinks (Whoever set the opening number at 5dimes must have envisioned the poor performance by JT) 2.8 units on Taylor Inside the Distance (-140) (Manny Steward would have stood a better shot cashing this)
Taylor pushes through the parlay to the final leg... 1 unit to win 5.57: Froch -610 Kessler -425 Pacquiao -600 Sturm -260 Mayweather -220 Taylor -350 Ibragimov -195

JT went down a huge notch in my book tonight. I used to think that it was far fetched that Mayweather could move up to 160 and give Taylor a close fight, but now I would actually favor him against the far bigger man.
Why did he show Spinks any kind of respect tonight and look tentative in there? He had a guy in front of him who cannot crack an egg and he still keeps distance, uh? Cut off the ring, throw combinations (who cares if you get countered), go to the body, and bully the smaller man around. No wonder Lou Dibella and Manny Steward looked like they were about to blow a gasket during the fight, he fought like an idiot. Why JT when Spinks is taken out by Judah at 147 and pushed to the brink by Karmazin at 154 are you afraid to go after this guy who cannot hurt you unless he had a brick inserted in his left glove pre-fight? Blows my mind.
You better run from Pavlik like you did in your interview with Merchant because he is going to take your title when the time comes.

glad you seem to like pavlik in that fight if there is
one....this opened at pavlik +180, so you gotta figure that it is over
+200 against taylor. that will be juicy

I think based on Taylor's poor performance tonight and Pavlik's great performance along with Pavlik answering all questions about his chin you will see it open right around -250 for Taylor, no higher. Taylor opened at -350 over Spinks a blown up welterweight at 5dimes before everybody and their mother jumped on him. I don't ever think you will see Pavlik near +300 if he gets the Taylor fight. Pavlik lost a close decision to Taylor in the 2000 Olympic trials, but I get the feeling we will see a different result this time around. If JT is to beat Pavlik this time around he is going to have to dig deep. Pavlik is a big guy for 160 just like Jermain and he brings the element of volume punching paired with power, which JT has not had to deal with before.

yah i think loew has done a lot with this kid since
2000. i would love to see that 2000 fight though. both
fighters are obviously a lot better now, but i think pavlik could take
him, as he was close before and now his confidence has to be higher
than ever. even his chin showed up tonight. had me worried
on that one smack that i believe was in the 2nd round, but other than
that he seemed to have a pretty solid chin....he's just gotta remember
which corner is his. i guess you're right +300 seems a little
farfetched, but whatever it is i'm going to make sure i tag it right
when it comes out, because it will surely go down just like this time

I agree with EVERYTHING you said! Taylor carried Spinks there is no question in my mind. They are friends outside the ring and he just let Corey cash in on a big payday without getting blasted out. If Taylor would have punched he stops Spinks easily. 25 punches average a freaking round… are you kidding me! He jabs more then that in most fights, now he can’t muster up the strength to throw 30 punches a round!! Spinks cannot crack an egg and Taylor lays back waiting on him. What a joke, Taylor has now had five straight fights that are less then stellar (Hopkins twice, Winky, Ouma, Spinks.) I will jump all over Pavlik if they fight!
Overall a winning night, but Taylor lost a ton of respect from me with his horrible performance and post fight comments about fighting for the money!
