Week 6 is what the CFL needed, what a crazy week! All of the games were high scoring and super exciting coming down to the wire. Edmonton's home curse continues, Toronto took care of business but had a scare in Montreal, Winnipeg completely self imploded against a backup 4th string QB and my green Riders suffered a heart breaking loss on the final play on a 50 yard field. To be honest I thought after the Riders converted the 3rd and 24 with the hail mary deflected touchdown to go up by 1 with under 1 minute remaining it was destiny they were going to win again in another tight game that came down to the wire, just like they have been doing all year is finding a way to win come 4th quarter with what they have. Not this time!
All picks moneyline (moneyline is what I've been posting since week 1 so I'll stick with it, I'm posting scores now if you're curious what I'm feeling ATS). Going to also start posting some teasers I like in my threads but not include them in my overall record.
WINNIPEG: Wow, Winnipeg...what happened last week? Losing to Ottawa playing a 4th string QB after being up by 19 in the 2nd half. Still can't believe they lost that game. I believe they come out here and absolutely destroy Edmonton. You would have to think the Bombers have to be fuming and are going to want to make a statement against the worst team in the league Thursday night. The Bombers are itching to get back onto the field, whereas the Elks would just want their miserable season to end if they could. Cornelius is starting this game for Edmonton and Kenny Lawler is back for Winnipeg. Edmonton will possibly be playing without 3 LBs or they may not be 100% (all 3 are ruled out but 2 practised in full Tuesday) and Aaron Grymes has been ruled out. Bombers are healthy going into this one. 38-11 Bombers
TORONTO: Hamilton is starting rookie QB Taylor Powell whose thrown 4 passes in the CFL so far (all last week against the Elks). Toronto is the best team in the league without question, Chad Kelly looks like the new Nathan Rourke. Hamilton looks like a team that's lost their identity with bad coaching and now forced to start their 3rd QB this year already. Toronto is a complete team on all 3 sides of the ball with great coaching. Ryan Dinwiddie is doing great things in Toronto and got his guys believing. Fun fact back in 2007, the game before the Grey Cup the Bombers starting QB went down with an injury and Dinwiddie was the backup. His opponent in the Grey Cup? My green Riders! Dinwiddie threw 3 INTs to James Johnson and the Riders won the Grey Cup 23-19. Dinwiddie was a backup QB in Winnipeg for 3 years and in Saskatchewan for 2 years! 31-13 Argos
BC: Not going to get too deep into this one...my Riders are going to get killed. They have too many injuries and now no QB and BC is coming off a bye and are healthy. This game is going to get ugly, BC should be able to hold the Riders under 14 points. Stop the run and force Mason Fine to throw would be my gameplan. I'd say put some heat on Fine and blitz him but that's not needed with the Riders awful and pitiful offensive line and Mathieu Betts looks like a man possessed. He reminds me of this dude named Cameron Wake that the Lions used to have before he went to the NFL. Please Betts do not kill Mason Fine, we need him! 34-10 Lions

CALGARY: The Stampeders showed me some grit and fight last week especially after the Riders took a 1 point lead with under a minute remaining. Calgary has been steadily improving the last couple weeks. I still need to see more out of Crum and am not ready to believe it quite yet. Ottawa played one hell of a game, but this could be a letdown spot for them coming off a huge emotional win like they did last week and now going on the road against an improving Stampeder team. Calgary has a great running game and the best 1-2 punch in the league especially when they get their starting RB back and Jake Maier is steadily improving. If this would be Masoli's 3rd game back and he didn't suffer another injury then I would be thinking differently about this game, but I believe in Calgary more than I do Ottawa/Crum at this point until I see more. 24-17 Stampeders
Good luck!
TEASER (5.5 pts): WPG -9 TOR -2.5 BC -4.5
MY POWER RANKINGS AFTER WEEK 6: 1)Toronto 2)BC 3)Winnipeg 4)Calgary 5)Montreal 6)Saskatchewan 7)Hamilton 8)Ottawa 9)Edmonton
Toronto, BC and Winnipeg stay in the same spots in the top 3 from last week. Calgary jumps over Saskatchewan with a huge win and the Riders losing their QB, Montreal moves up to 5, Riders drop down 2 spots to 6 as injuries are really piling up now and they lost their leader. The bottom 3 remain unchanged from last week. An argument can be made for Hamilton and Ottawa to flip positions, let's see a bit more out of Crum. This league is a 3-tier league, with teams 1-3 being in tier 1, followed by 4-8 in tier 2 and Edmonton all by themselves in a tier of their own.
