Man, I'm thinking about the 2nd half odds and how they can foreshadow the result of the game. At the half, the score was 47-39 Zaga, Duke was down by 8, the 2nd half odds were Duke -8 and the ml was Duke -475 through -500.
With the ml, hypothetically for simplistic reasons, the 2nd half ends with a score of 2-1 Duke. Duke scores 1 more than the Zags and that would "satisfy" the 2nd half -475 ml because we know that money lines are a probability indicator of what will happen and the more negative, higher the odds are, the more likely an event will occur. Whereas a higher positive number indicates that an event will NOT occur.
Now, to the 2nd half spread. The 2nd half spread was Duke -8 (-110). This is telling us that Duke should, SHOULD score 8 more points than Gonzaga in the 2nd half. In this case, if the 2nd half score was 8-0 Duke, the game would end at a draw and we know that basketball games can't end in a draw. Therefore, Duke HAS to score 1 or more to cover this spread in which case, they would win the game.
Is my logic here correct? Lmk. Leave some feedback..
