Everyone is taking MTS thinking that's they're sharp mega upset 12 over a 5 so they can impress everyone in the $5 office pool when they are now actually FAVORED fukkingg lmao
And the only reason they think this is because "muh they beat Michigan State last year"
The best team they beat all year was VANDY, when vandy SUCKED
This line should be -7 with Minn healthy. With Springs out -6. He is not worth 8 points He is only their 5th best scorer
Minnesota +1 is the easiest play of the 1st round fading all wannabe sharps betting a complete shhitt line based on 1 upset a year ago

I came up with Minny -1.18, but what do I know...
Springs is a glue guy, and Minny doesn't have the best depth. Minny is a pretty difficult match-up for MTSU as well. The hardest thing in capping is applying/deducting points due to injury.
Tough game to pinpoint.
Good luck

This I don't agree with bud. There's multiple reason's why a guy is on a team, and this guy was a starter. If you look at only scoring do you NOT look at defense then?

You think springs is a Worth one point in the line???? Give me a break. Defensively alone he's worth a couple so your 5th leading scorer comment is woefully misguided....

Exactly Sac and Scal....Florida is going to miss Egbunu, VA Tech gonna miss Clarke, Ducks will miss their Center who blew out his kbee
A few of these are a bit different. Va Tech and Florida have had a bit of time now to adjust to the losses of Clarke and Egbunu respectively. Its even harder to adjust on the fly like this right before the tournament, especially for Oregon who has such little depth in the frontcourt.

Im not sure i wanna bet against Rick Pitinos son. Maybe he agreed to get some hookers like his old man for the new recruits and thats the reason why the gophers are so good.

The Mid majors play with the chip on your shoulder attitude you want as a bettor. I like MTSU for a unit and will place the bet later today. And like the poster said experience is major in March, guys wont get nervous as juniors n seniors

I use the "Value Add" website to estimate personnel absences to the line. Applying VA's estimates to the projected game pace, I show that Akeem Springs absence being about 1.5 points to the line (-1 point on offense and +0.5 points on defense).

I have the game capped at MTSU -1.2.

That "chip on the shoulder" goes completely out the window once you already had a monster upset last year AND EVERYONE is sucking your dikk picking you. Bettors, (((experts))), media, everyone calling it an easy win. Like you're Kansas against a 16 seed
MTS will not win this game. Once Minnesota wins Thursday, none of you clowns will be here and act like it never happened

I live in MN and follow the gophers very closely. Springs was a big contributor to this team and a leader in the locker room. He will travel with the team but him not being out there, especially in his former town of Milwaukee, will be heart breaking for him.. so I'm not sure how much energy he will bring.
Springs being out kills this teams depth, they only had 7 playable players before he went down, now they have 6.. and this team is always in foul trouble. Curry seemed to have the ball in his hands a lot more because of the lack of ball handling without 3 guards and he looked a bit overwhelmed to be honest. Springs also led the team in 3s made, even though I would argue he was their third best shooter.. but still hurts.
Having said all of that, I do think MN has a good chance to win but would never bet on them.. just thought I would share some home town knowledge.

Coaches don't usually "show their hand" in interviews.
They are taught to be perpetual optimists to ward off a prying press and to avoid showing weakness that the other team can pounce on.
But look at the public quotes from the Gophers HEAD COACH about Springs:
“We’re a totally different team now with Akeem out,” coach Richard Pitino said. “Totally different team. I’m extremely disappointed with Akeem that he has to go through that.”
“We’re going to have to start teaching some guys some different positions,” Pitino said. “Some time off will help. We’ll be able to acclimate some other guys, be able to go to the bench a little bit more.”
McBrayer, a sophomore who started the first 19 games this year, said the lesson of Springs’ injury is to “be prepared for anything.” Pitino called it a big blow, and players know that’s the case on and off the court.
“He’s one of the best teammates and all-around hard workers on the team,” center Reggie Lynch said.
Now he's gone. And at the worst possible time. And they got dispatched by Michigan in their biggest game of the year.
This player is not worth a point on the spread folks. Not by a long shot.

Definitely overwhelmed. I agree. And why wouldn't he be being thrust into this position without Springs.

This guy just sounds like an idiot... it's because he is one. Yesss please put all your money you have on Minnesota so you can lose out early in the round of 64 and have nothing left to bet clown.

I couldn't care less what the media is touting in this game. The problem with your logic is that there isn't a single power rating or metric that puts this game anywhere close to the numbers you're proposing.
Minnesota may win the game but it won't be due to the fact that they were 6 points better going in. Keep at it, you still have much to learn. Best of luck.

Tough game to pick. Minnesota is probably a basket better, but a basket isn't a lot. My concern would be everybody picking MTSU. Pitino can play up the "no one is respecting us" angle. Will it make a difference in the end? Who knows! But, Minnesota should definitely be feeling disrespected. I feel like the small conference teams rarely pull off the upset two years in a row. But, someone else might know better than me.
