One of my top 3 sports, look forward to college basketball season ever year. Had a nice run during the NCAA Tournament where I was backing UCONN / VCU through their tourney runs.
All plays will be 1 unit unless otherwise noted...
Two plays tonight and I like the smaller schools in each:
William & Mary (-110) against St. Johns - A lot of changes for Lavin with a whole new set of players coming in. They take on a team that has caused the big boys problems in the past.
Valpo (+13.5) - Both teams have gone through changes, but it's impossible to replace a player the caliber of Derrick Williams. Zona has struggled in the preseason losing toa DII team to kick off their preseason slate. Valpo can hit the the 3 to keep this competitive.
Good luck tonight.

St Johns / William & Mary Over 74 (-110) - If W&M is ahead, expect a lot of fouling in the second half. In a game last year against St. Marys where St. Johns was down, there were over 20 points scored in the final 2.5 minutes due to all the fouling. A lot of missed shots in the first half here and the score still hit 59 without the stop and go of late 2nd half fouling.

Took an in game flyer on Valpo ML as I liked the way Valpo was able to attack the glass against Zona. Unfortunately, Valpo couldn't buy a bucket for a large part of the second half.
Been waiting for this line to creep up and it's finally hit the threshold I want it at.
Duquesne +10 (-110) - I think this is a pretty good team returning some good talent. I could see the A10 team contending for a NCAA Tourney bid. Arizona is young and had some problems with Valpo. No reason Duquesne can't keep this within single digits.
Akron intrigues me against Miss. St, but no play from me unless the line moves a bit more.

Suprised this line moved so much from 6.5 to 9 over the course of the day... with that the play is Akron. Don't love Miss St. at all, play down to their competition, and rarely blow teams out.
Akron +9 ...
Good luck.

St Peters +11 (-110) - Really like this St. Peters team. I actually rank them above Buffalo, so I'm surprised they are being given this many points. Given the location, I wouldn't say St Peters wins, but they can certainly compete for the win.
W. Kentucky +3.5 @ St. Joe's (-110)
Loyola Marymount +1.5: This is another case of the wrong team being favored. Wake is one of the worst teams in a power conference, just like last year.
Ill Chi +5.5 @ E. Michigan

Ball St +13: -110: Faded Arizona their first two games of the season and fade them again here. Ball St. is a veteran team returning 4 starters and Zona is a talented team, but still working out the kinks in the machine.
UNC Asheville +17: -110: Lot of factors here... UNC returning from cross country trip, Asheville opening a new arena, and UNCA being a talented squad in themselves. Asheville won their NCAA playing game last year before falling to Pitt in the Round of 64. Last year, UNC beat Asheville by 11 at Chapel Hill.

Detroit has a solid squad facing a ND team that isn't as good as it has been in the past and without it's leader.
Can't see how South Florida is favored by nearly 20 points over anybody. Remember, Marist was down only 9 to Kentucky at the half.
And the teaser, FSU is solid and UCF is without their best player. The Fairfield / Providence line just seems fishy... don't see Fairfield winning that game by double digits.

Wash St +12.5 -110: Wash St. has played well against the Zags in recent years. Zags had some trouble with E. Washington in their first game winning by only single digits. Spread is too big in this one... Wash St. covers.

Heading into the 24 Hours of Basketball...

Wash St +12.5 -110: Wash St. has played well against the Zags in recent years. Zags had some trouble with E. Washington in their first game winning by only single digits. Spread is too big in this one... Wash St. covers.
Northern Iowa +11 -110: In a defensive battle with limited posessions, no team should be favored by double digits. Was impressed with UNI's win at ODU as well.

Went on a 9 game winning streak there, before UNI was unable to cover.
One of the early games I find very intriguing is Memphis / Belmont. I think Belmont has a very good team... perhaps one of the top mid majors in the country, but they are getting too much love right now. Memphis returns all 5 starters and 9 of their top 10. With the game at Fedex Forum, this sets up a significant advantage. Spread is way too low....
Memphis -4. Good luck!

FIU +20 at Va Tech: FIU is coming off a big OT win over George Mason. The I. Thomas led squad is on the rise and giving 20 points here is rather surprising.
Florida +10 vs Ohio State: This should be a very good. Florida's guards keep this close.
Kentucky -6 vs Kansas: Kentucky is stacked and makes an early season statement against a Jayhawks squad that doesn't have remotely the same level of talent they have had the past few seasons.

Overall: 19-7-1 and on a 15-1 run....only loss coming on Nothern Iowa not covering 11 at St. Mary's
Tonight's plays:
Long Beach St. +13.5 @ Pitt -110: When I first the slate of today's games, this was the one that stuck out most. LB State is one of the better mid majors in the country. Have a quality backcourt led by conference preseason player of the year Larry Anderson. LB State knows it's this season or no season and this is a big early season game for them. Pitt did not play well against Rider... this is a lot of points to give up and I think LB State keeps this competitive.
Creighton ML @ UAB +110: Creighton returns some really quality including McDermott. Think the wrong team is favored in this matchup as Creighton is significantly better on the offensive side of the ball. UAB might be athletic, but how will they keep up?
Evansville +6.5 -110 vs Louisville: I know Indiana is improved, but Evansville just came off a nice win over Butler and are a tough out at home. Indiana hasn't won a road game since Jan 2010.... that's a season and a half. Incredible.
Hofstra +9.5 @ Oregon St. -110: On a neutral site, I think this a PK, perhaps even leaning Hofstra. Home court is not a 10 point advantage. Hofstra has solid guard play against one of the PAC12 bottom feeders, they keep this in the single digits or perhaps even win outright.
Buffalo -9 vs Cornell -110: The MAC East is stacked with Ohio, Kent St, and Akron in the division. Buffalo has a team to compete with them this season. Cornell is slow and will not be able to keep up with the pace of this Buffalo team.
Good luck on your plays tonight!
