Weird spot with Fresno off for nearly a week as the government shutdown precipitated a cancellation of the Air Force game on Saturday. Even with unexpected prep, this is a sub-optimal matchup for Rodney Terry and company. Since Terry arrived, Fresno has played an extended man-to-man style that frequently leaves post players in single coverage on the block. Consequently, the Bulldogs tend to struggle defending at the rim, and it’s been particularly problematic this season. UNLV ranks in the top ten nationally in percentage of shots attempted at the rim, led, of course, by projected lottery pick Brandon McCoy. Per Synergy, UNLV ranks in the 95th percentile in ppp around the basket, and in the 97th percentile in points scored via post-ups. Terry likely needs Terrell Carter’s size in this game, but he’s exceptionally foul-prone (8.1 FC/40) and has little chance of stopping an athletic freak like McCoy in single coverage. Fresno has also routinely been toasted in transition defense (319/351, 61.3 eFG% allowed), and that’s certainly an area a Jordan Johnson-led transition offense can thrive with regularity tonight.
Defensively, Marvin Menzies is always going to harangue three-point shooters at the expense of playing one-on-one in the post, and that’s likely a good strategy in defending the Taylor duo on the perimeter. Terrell Carter – in the unlikely event he stays out of foul trouble – could have some success in single coverage on the block, but the Bulldogs frequently become bogged down in halfcourt sets and end possessions by chucking up contested threes (mainly because Jaron Hopkins is a scoring guard masquerading as a point guard).

First thought was to go large on Fresno and unlv has sucked ats but as favs. Dogs I believe there 2-0? Staying away wouldn't be surprised to see Fresno lose su

Knicks in game +8.5 for 500 and FSU 1st half -2.5 for $500 see how we do . This unlv team is spotty at best . Sloppy plays over last month that will catch up to them against a FSU team with extended rest and UNlV won’t remain unbeaten on the road in conference this is bad spot for them
