I think Pitt's one of the best plays on the board, and actually may be the best. Yah, they've looked bad. But here's what people don't realize:
THIS WAS THE MOST EFFICIENT OFFENSE IN THE COUNTRY WHEN WOODALL WENT DOWN. YES, #1.
This spread basically hints at the offense showing up, but it's not high enough. In terms of assist percentage, Woodall would be #2 as it stands in the country, with the Watkins kid from Utah being #1. You all know how much I said that Utah would miss him, well Pitt missed Woodall just as much. They lost last time out (please don't compare Pitino's defense to Providence, that won't work), but look at what the starters did just having Woodall in the lineup:
Gibbs 5/13
Patterson 6/9
Robinson 6/11
Zanna 3/6
In terms of this game, go back to the Pitt/Syracuse over I took b/c of how good this Pitt offense operates against the zone, and that was WITHOUT Woodall. The play lost, but they had opportunities to score, and it's just a different zone than most. They've now seen four straight zone defenses in a row, and there is a possibility tonight becomes #5.
Personally, I don't see how anyone can put faith in the Providence defense on the road?
Fairfield scored 72...(and Cooley knew this team inside and out!)
South Carolina 67....
St. John's scored 91 for crying out loud...
Cuse 78...
Marquette 79....
Now, Pitt's defense hasn't been anything special, either, but again, they got people playing out of position without Woodall. He's back now. Everyone can assume their role, and play it how they know how to play it. Assuming that Pitt uses a zone as well, on the road this year, Providence is shooting 28% from beyond the arc and here is the amount of three's they've made in a game:

Aside from all of that, Pitt is the best offensive rebounding team in the country. Providence is up there too, but the difference is that Pitt rebounds a whole heckuva lot better than Providence does.
I can see why a lot of people like Providence with Pitt's struggles of late. But, in terms of value, that lies on Pitt in a big way. They're fully healthy, and this line would be a ton higher had it not been for the Woodall injury and recent slide.
