4 weeks from today we'll be watching College Football.

I appreciate your good vibes on my Texas Longhorns...Its a good endorsement, considering that we are oft over hyped, and don't meet expectations. I believe there has been a paradigm shift in the attitude of our coaches and players. The games with Georgia, Michigan and Oklahoma will be tough, but I think we can win at least 2/3...I am with you on SMU in week 0 and Georgia in week 1...I am also leaning UTSA, Syracuse, and South Carolina, all ATS in week 1 as well, with an eye on Nebraska -7 in week 2...

JA , This is a difficult matchup for both teams. Both teams are
potentially sound on Offense , but with significant question marks
on defense. The worse part is that both teams rank at the bottom
of my Top 35 in game management. USC has a new DC , but I've
got to see what he's been able to accomplish before I'll make a
wager on them. As far as Game Management goes, the problem
with most teams that have this shortcoming is that to correct this,
the HC and his staff have to understand that the solution to this is
to hold their players accountable. Unfortunately, ego will not
permit some coaches to acknowledge that this problem comes
directly from their staffs inability to recognize the need to change
their style of player management.
I personally would not wager on this matchup in Week 1, as I
need to see what , if any, improvement they have made in both
Team Defense and Game Management for the upcoming season.
Good Luck in whatever you you choose to do.

LH , Texas was a big player in the Portal this off season, and may be
improved in some key areas for 2024. The shortcomings they have
in O & D production are very correctable, and If they can cut down
on foolish penalties, can be very competitive in the SEC this season.

FWIW , I cannot overestimate the effect Game Management has on
the overall success of College and Pro sports today.I learned the
value of this in my 40 years of managing Major Construction Projects.
My goal was to motivate those under my direction to aspire to
accomplish tasks they never thought possible , and giving them the
tools necessary to achieve personal success in future endeavours .
Harvard Business School defines leadership thusly:
'' Effective leaders take a personal interest in the long term development
of their employees , and they use tact and social skills to encourage
employees to achieve their best."
I believe it is imperative to integrate leadership capabilities of Head
Coaches and their staff into our capping methodology going forward.

Thanks bud. I believe that with the TP bringing a lot of teams
closer to parity, the ability of Coaches to manage their rosters
as well as player performance may likely be the difference
between a win or a loss going forward.

LH , One thing Texas needs to improve on as they move into SEC play
is Pass blocking , as they are going to find that contrary to play in the
BIG 12 , they are likely to compete with some very talented D Linemen
every week in the SEC. Week 2 at Michigan will be an interesting game
to watch to measure their progress and their preparation for SEC play.

As a member of this Forum since 2012 , I've tried to post information in an
effort to share with others some of what I have learned about Sports betting
over the last 40 + years. While many of my posts were focused on College
Football where I did some of my best work, I was able to see the changes in
College sports that were coming as well as the changes that were happening
in Bookmaking as the popularity of Sports betting began to grow into what it is
today. My last season posting CFB was in 2017 , where I went 22 of 30 ( 73 % )
in season play. In 2018 - 2022 , I did not wager or post much due to Covid and
other personal reasons.
Instead I spent that time looking at what options Oddsmakers were offering
over a number of Sports and trying to find ways to capitalize on them.
In 2023 - 2024, so far I've had a pretty good season betting across a number
of sports including :
NFL Super Bowl Game , futures and prop markets ( posted in NFL forum )
CBB Tournament 22 of 26 ( 84 % ) , and futures ( posted in CBB forum )
MLB 11 of 12 ( 92 % ) before focusing on CFB. ( posted in MLB forum )
In my time off from betting CFB, I realized that a whole lot of opportunity was
available to me if I was willing to take the time to learn and understand that
all of the betting options Bookmakers were giving me were opportunities to
generate additional revenue to me , ( rather than to the Bookmaker ) if I was
wise in my understanding the concepts of Value and Risk across all markets
such as spreads , totals , props and futures .
I would encourage others to expand their knowledge and understanding of
betting options available to give yourselves a better opportunity to compete
in this ever changing world of Sports betting.
We have just two weeks to go until College Football begins.
Blessings and Good Luck this Season.

Apologies for only mentioning the most common markets in my Post # 68 , as those are but
a fraction of what is available to wager on overall. For those bettors who have the ability to
accurately determine TLV , Alt. spreads / totals can offer great value to bettors . Live betting
is also a great way to capture TLV and to gain WP on a wager. The ability to bet all markets
early before betting lines " Mature " is also a great way to capture True Line Value and WP.
Good Luck this Season.

@WISEGUY36
I find NFL props SOOO much more profitable vs betting against the spread!! Looking forward to your insights on that and hope to learn further on that aspect!!

Amen to that my friend. But with a lot of big and well capitalized money
chasing plays in the Props and Futures markets it actually pays to bet
props and futures early these days and assume that a percentage of
your bankroll is going to be tied up for some time in exchange for the
best prices that you are likely to find. It's a market that a bettor has to
acquire a " feel" for the way odds are likely to move , while this is true
for all markets, Props and Futures tend to move much more rapidly
and dramatically. Personally , I was never one to tie up capital for long
periods of time, but the opportunities available today have changed my
thinking on this. I just have to reallocate a portion of capital to longer
term " Investments ." Kinda like an asset allocation into longer dated
Treasuries in a 401 K account.
Blessings and Good Luck this season.

@LoveCFB1_
Although I have not posted them to the Forum yet, I have a number
of parlay bets on futures to win Conferences at some great prices ,
which I bet early as soon as they were posted. Those prices are long
gone now.

I have yet to try futures, maybe next year! But definitely player props have been profitable! Older gentleman I met on here a few years back turned me on to them and taught me some things!
