Wanted this number at 14, but dropped 1.5 within a day. Still loving +12…here’s why.
Auburn looks good in W1…but watched the tape over and over…. Alabama A&M has one of the most pathetic defenses in the nation. Auburn Receivers had the secondary beat by 5 yards, Oline pushed the DLine a good 3-5 yards, and QB had a time yo throw….in one play an Auburn WR stopped momentarily to catch the ball and still had time to walk in the end zone….imo this will be tough to accomplish with Cal’s secondary and the pressure QB will be getting from a LB that has a ton of motor (Cade Uloave). Watched the USC game last year & UC Davis game and Bears play a pretty decent game in the secondary… WR-target window is extremely small.
Remeber Davis is a decent FCS team…they’re top 25 and real scrappy…don’t let Cals 1H bad playmaking fool you….Davis’s 2nd Td came from a defensive fumble recovery and after that they were shut out. Remember , Uc Davis’s coach was an assistant for Berkeley last year. Cal took it easy imo knowing that and they have Auburn on deck (who barely beat them at home last year 14-10)
How will Cal win? Defense and running back Ott. If you haven’t seen this Ott kid play you’re in for a big surprise. Great foot work, and has a nice burst. If defense can apply pressure and Cal’s run game succeeds this will be a tight game. In 2023 their defense led the nation with 16 fumbles recovered and tied for the national lead with 28 turnovers gained!
Only worry: Cal’s QBs. Used a 2QB system last game and not alt all crazy about Mendoza. Tall kid with some accuracy, but slow af in the pocket…looks scared in the pocket at times. If he comes in and just plays his game…make some key throws on third and long. Cal will keep this game close. If he gets knocked around, it all be a long day for Cal.
But…I’m a strong believer in Coach Wilcox. He’s taken down some ranked opponents in the P12 and I think he’ll have his kids ready to compete.
Give me the Bears with the upset!

Absolutely hate playing early games. I tend to have more success betting large plays in the afternoon/evening games. Plus I only have time to study 1-2 teams in a week at most. Most of my time las few years have been dedicated to family & long term investments such as finance/& stonks…
