Nice to see some great discussion taking place on the board with the start of the season just three weeks away. College football has never been my forte, but I've had quite a bit of time this summer to research after finishing up MLB in June. As with college basketball, a high percentage of my plays will be of the "situational" variety with varying credence lent to schemes, coaches, players, etc...Obviously in Week 1, there aren't too many situational angles to be played, so most of these plays will be strictly based on matchups.
Thus far:
Washington State @ BYU Over 61 (1 unit) Michigan State PK/UNLV +15 -120 (1 unit)
Leans: Rice +16, NC State +4, Duke -4 Ohio/Penn State Over 43, more...
Discussion/commentary welcomed.

Ideally, two winning wagers come out of this game. As the article below discusses, NC State has, for a lack of a better term, become obsessed with beating Tennessee. The UT helmet has been displayed in the weight room all summer as a constant reminder and both the players and coaching staff are treating the game as a super bowl of sorts. If the Pack emerges with a win, I'll be fading them on September 8th in Storrs against UCONN.

I also really like NC State here, but I was hoping to get a TD. At -4 I'm not sure I can pull the trigger. I completely agree that this game will be a dogfight. If I had to bet it, I would definitely side with the points.

Agreed that another point or two would be nice, but I capped this at around a PK/NC State -1. The Pack's secondary is one of the best in the country and has the personnel to slow down Bray and company. I'm a little concerned about the complete lack of experience at linebacker, but this current Vols team has not proven anything. Sure, they're much more experienced this year, but I get the sense that a lot of people want them to return to prominence and therefore do not have a realistic opinion of the team's actual standing.

Look up the term "point spread." I'm not sure you understand it.

Good to disagree I will be fading NC ST week 1 *vs Tennessee and Likely betting them week 2 at UCONN ...
Your Teaser with MSU makes sense , but something tells me Boise St. plays this one like their Suoer Bowl and the outcome might come down to the final drive
Looking forward to reading your thread every week ...

Bonilla you're a moron. JFen is a solid and honest as it comes on covers. Just go start another 50 threads that involves nothing but you freaking out like a child, using horrible grammar, and getting bashed.

Though it will be a no play for myself... Have you looked into Bama and Michigan yet?
Also don't forgot your situational capping works better in basketball bbecause Of a quick turnaround... Football with a week doesn't work quite as well we learned that last year

Wolff said that it has changed everyone’s preparation.
The Wolfpack knows that it starts the season with a serious opponent. N.C. State has that helmet to remind them.
“It will stay there, every day I walk in,” said Wolff, who likened this season to when N.C. State opened against South Carolina in 2009. “Basically, he wanted to motivate us. Every day we walk in it’s, ‘Beat Tennessee.’”
Unfortunately, in 2009 State lost to USC 7-3 as five-point favorites.
