IMO totals hold a lot more of unpredictable variability to cap than do sides. If im confident with side, I don't see any reason to make a total play on the same game. For myself, it would just be smarter to increase the units I have on the side play. I don't want to win a side play, and then the total play lose, and decrease my winnings on the side. Just my thought.

First is the motivation factor. This always plays an important role in college Bowl games and it's no different here. NIU will surely have the advantage in wanting to be in this game. A long shot in the first place to even get to this game, NIU has been hearing for a month of how they don't deserve to be in this game. I can assure you for how much they lack some talent in this game, motivation and intensity will make up for some of it.
Game in the trenches:
As most would expect Fl St. on paper has the advantage talent wise on both sides of the ball. But IMO it's not a huge advantage. NIU has proven through out this year that they have a very good front four and the ability to slow down a power running game. There is no doubt that FL St. is going to try and establish the run game in this game, and will probably end up with 40 carries on the ground. Fl st does have a good running game by committee, but they don't have a stand out rb, which may limit them a bit. The front 4 defensively for Fl. St. also lost a key DE late in the year in Carradine and his play may be limited in this one tonight. This puts a lot of pressure on on Freshman DE's Edwards and Newberry. Their inexperience may prove costly tonight if they don't maintain gap integrity, because Jordan Lynch will take advantage and run the ball when he has the chance. The main difference between both these team in the trenches is their depth. FL St. has the depth to rotate lineman and stay active for 4 Qtrs. Any early injuries to the line of NIU on either side of the ball may be very costly in the long run of the game.
WR And Secondary Play:
Again FL St. on paper def has the advantage at the WR position. They have more depth and overall speed as well. NIU does do a very good job at flooding zones and finding soft spots in the defense, and FL St's corners have shown to be overly aggressive at times, which leads to some big plays overtop. The difference for the most part here will be the decision making of the respective QB to find the open man. NIU strength in defense is probably their secondary and the ability to get after the QB and force interceptions, and with Manuel for Florida St, he has shown his vulnerability to turning it over, whether it being stripped sacked or throwing int. If NIU can win the turnover margin, which I think they will, they have a very good chance at pulling the upset tonight.
QB Play:
The most important position in football today has to be the QB position. I give the advantage to NIU here and this is why I think they win the game tonight. A good QB can mask all the other deficiencies a team has. Jordan Lynch is the leader of this team and he makes smart decision on the field. He only has 5 Int this year and can beat you with his arm or legs. He knows he must get the ball out of his hands quickly and take what the defense gives him. I think NIU will do just that tonight. They will look to do a lot of speed plays to the outside and spread the field out offensively. This will limit some of the size FL St has upfront as well as open up some running lanes for Lynch. Lynch makes everyone on his team better, and he will carry them tonight once again. Manual has been mediocre all year, and I have no reason to believe it will be any different tonight. He turns the ball over too much and although he can pull the ball down and run it, he doesn't make many defenders miss in the open field. NIU has some speed at the defensive end position and Manual has shown he doesn't feel backside pressure very well. Look for NIU to bring some blitzes from the backside and try and force some strip sacks tonight. Manual has shown he can make all the throws, but he's very inconsistent in doing so and has been inaccurate all year.
I think the difference tonight will be Lynch outplaying Manual and I have NIU with the huge upset tonight. May I also add that both teams are very good on special teams in this one. FL ST. does have the Slight advantage with the Fg kicker who will be playing on Sundays, but the NIU kicker has been very good all year as well. Should be a very good back and forth game. NIU wins 27-26

Whats not to say that they don't come out and steam roll them Please note I am a big follower and supporter of you but I just don't see the huskies matching up against that army for 4 quarters. Bol to you buddy always

What army!? Florida St is one of the most over rated teams IMO this season, besides USC. Beat one ranked team at home (Clemson), and got man handled against Florida. Lost to NC ST, and we saw that team get dominated by Vandy. Fl St gave up a bunch of late leads and hasn't beaten any decent team by more than 14 this year. So I'm taking the points here bro. If they come out and crush em so be it, but it will be very surprising to me, I like our chances with a 14.5 cushion.. BOL!
And im not a huge fan of totals. Its a be close on that total IMO.
