I hesitated buying it down to 3 here, as I don't think it will be that close, it's more of an insurance plan on this one. If you want to stay at Stanford -4, I think you will be alright, but I'm playing this one safe, as of lot of these games are having late comebacks and some surprisingly close contest. That being said I think Stanford has a glaring advantage here. It's going to be the QB play. As we all know, both team like to establish the running game early and often, and both teams key in on stopping the run. Both offenses will see a good amount of 8 man fronts and it's going to be up to the QB's to make some big play in the end. Advantage Stanford big time here IMO. Hogan has the ability to make the throws and has shown to make smart decisions. His TE are also very athletic and will produce some difficult match ups for these Wisconsin Safeties and Linebackers. Hogan also has the ability to pull the ball down and pick up the first down with his feet, and he won't hesitate to do so. On the other side, Wisconisn has recently been starting senior Phillips, who started the year 3rd on the depth chart. With the Wisconsin coach bolting after the season, there was some question to who would be the starter in this game, thats not going to help this Qb confidence at all. I also expect Wisconson to over coach here rotate Qb through the game, which won't allow either to gain rhythm. Stanfords run defense is one of the best in the nation, has yet to give up many yards against a pro style offense. I expect them to stack the box and make one of these Wisconsin Qb beat them.
In the end, Stanford has the slight advantage defensively, and a sizable advantage at the QB and coaching positions. This is usually a good recipe for a win. Lay the fg (or 4) with Stanford here. Stanford wins 24-14
