the credit cards don't know that bankruptcy isn't an option. Tell them all you have is about 20% They can take it or leave it. generally, they will take what you offer.

@CarterSECpicks
I dont think they will accept. My credit will plummet and I wont be able to get a house. I have plans for a brighter future. I just want to stop the urge to gambling so I can save a bit of money.

Best thing to do is ask yourself ‘ Do you want to be a slave anymore to someone / something you can’t control determining your happiness / success. It’s hard to stop bc it’s so much fun and ‘feel good’ chemicals flow win or lose and that’s how we get addicted. Basically ask yourself if you’re finished being someone’s (Gambling’s) Bitch... You’re Not Alone brother. God Bless and Good Luck finding Peace w/o gambling for it

Been there. The only real solution is to stop completely. Join a Gambler’s Anonymous group and find a sponsor if you’re unable to do it on your own.

what several of these nitwits say about don't quit. DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM. YOU ARE NOT IN THAT BAD OF SHAPE. THINK OF IT AS YOU BOUGHT A LEMON OF A CAR. IF THAT DEBT WERENT GAMBLING YOU WOULDNT FEEL SO BAD. debt is debt no matter how you got it. Please for the love of God don't make another bet. Catch this early and you will be fine. It will be tough for several months but you can do it on a 70,000 dollar salary. Trist me and I promise you will thank me later. I will be praying for u.

20K is not bad at all. if youre seriously addicted, i suggest you tell your loved ones about your problem. they will stop you. you seem like a closet gambler. get out now. i lost close to 250K 15 years ago, losr within 2 years of betting. i told my fiance about my losses. she helped me control emotions. and luckily, she stuck around. i am happily married 12 years, and still make 1-5k bets. however i still tell my wife every bet i make, and the remaining balance on my multiple books. i net around 60K a year as side income on sports bets + still happily employed. it is difficult to quit, so have someone around you help you control bet sizes. good luck

I’m 23 years old and deal with the same demons as you. Have been working my ass off since 14. Now college educated with a decent job, I still struggle with trying to get even. I tail a lot of guys here who make me money, but when they lose I often still try to get even. Now I usually lock my accounts after I place my bets for a day. We have legal sports here, so very easy to lock myself out for a day or two or whatever I like. No idea how you live in that liberal hellhole btw. Take a break. Work on weekends. I am a full time teacher, and I do Doordash to consume my time when I want to avoid gambling. If you are very addicted try GA. If you fix your situation and come back in, set aside a bankroll in a SEPARATE ACCOUNT and don’t touch any of your other money. Best wishes brother.

Best thing you can do to stop is to come clean to your loved ones about your gambling problem. This isn't much different than drugs & alcohol addiction. Get to a gamblers anonymous meeting immediately, there are people there who have definitely been in the same situation as you are now and they will have the experiences and guidance that can get you on the correct path out of this. I went to drug rehab 8 years ago and it completely changed my life, but it wouldn't have changed anything if i hadn't kept going to meetings and practicing things i learned while in rehab.
Everyone on these Covers forums has a gambling problem, including me. None of the people here are those who just place a bet on the Superbowl for fun every year. I'm just saying that so you know YOU ARE NOT ALONE in this thing. Again get to a GA meeting and talk to someone after it's over, usually they are a great help and know exactly what you are going through because they've been there before.
Good luck and i wish you the best

Most of us on this thread can feel your pain. I bet with a local in the '90s and went through cycles of winning and losing big. Bookie had a couple of bad weeks and skipped town owing me 2700 and others a lot more. Been playing offshore for 20 years, never use credit cards, only Moneygram or Western Union. Now a smalltime player, never over 100 a game. My goal is to win 500 a month. I know a couple of guys in their late 60's that made good money in their jobs that are at retirement age and have no money put away due to sportsbetting. Get your debt settled and walk away from betting
