Ga Tech is very tricky at utilizing multiple formations, which makes it difficult for any defense. You have a valid point with returning starters on Va Tech D, this could be Bud's best D in his 18 yrs "on paper", but thier are a number of starters returning for the Ga Tech O as well, including a veteran O line. Both teams in my stability number at at 17, which is very high in stability. this Ga Tech O looks alot like the O from 2009 which won the ACC title. the winner of this game has gone on to win the Coastal Division title for seven straight years. Va Techs O line includes four new starters and did not look good from what they are saying in spring practice.
I think the Va Tech D will be great this season, they should fly to the ball and keep scores low, even the Ga Tech triple option, with Ga Techs ability to control the ball on the ground, the clock should run and this score should be below the number 48-50, I agree with you that this should be the play. I also agree with you on the side, as my numbers show Va Tech winning by 5, but obviously that is way too close for seeking any value in getting the +7. I think we have a winner with the under 48.5. I think the difference in this game will be Ga Techs lack of playmakers on D.

Agree with you, 23. It'll be strength v. strength when Tech "o' goes against Hokie "d". Real question comes down to how Thomas and Hokie "o" fare against Jacket "d". Both units have real questions on the line; while serviceable in the defensive backfield, Jacket linebacking corp is untested. As you'd mentioned, Hokie receivers are young, as is the backfield. One more thing to mention: kicking/special teams. While this is a legacy at Va. Tech, could it be the Jackets have an edge here? Hokis lost their scholarship kicker, and Jackets hired a special teams assistant that's supposed to be pretty sharp to shore an obvious weak link last year, and their kicker is very reliable. Field position and field goals could prove to be valuable in a game like this. I agree the under is way to go.
