Nice to have you back LU. I dont think the Herd can slow this machine down because hell, nobody has. This might be one of the teams that will actually make ECU look good on defense. They dont do anything really well and should be slower than the Pirates. I see a similar outcome to the Memphis game....

I hate it because it seems like this year I'm always taking the Pirates and that I'm a "homer", but I'll tell you right here and now, I am throwing 5 units on ECU to cover the 12.5 with absolutely ZERO hesitation.
Marshall has a good defensive line and one line backer, but those guys aren't nearly as good as Southern Miss or NC State. Get serious with this line.
ECU almost put it all together against the 5-1 Wolfpack in their 33-27 point overtime victory last Saturday afternoon (they were 7 point dogs at the kick). They had an issue with turnovers, though. ECU went up 21-0 before they fumbled the ball on their doorstep (1 yardline) with the Pack punching it in on the following play. They had a few other key mistakes that let NC State back into the game, including a fumble while going in for the score. Giavanni Ruffin fumbled the ball on the 1 yardline while diving...and the ball shot through the back of the endzone for the touchback.
The Pirates have shown that their offense is strong enough to overcome 4 turnovers per game and a boatload of penalties...but don't forget that the Pirates not only had to beat the Wolfpack last Saturday, they also had to beat the refs (read link below)...

ECU comes into this game ready to get after someone. They've finally put together some defense which has propelled the Pirates into top 25 discussions (currently receiving votes in the AP and Coaches Polls). Steady improvement is what I was looking for over the past 2 weeks out of this defense and they've responded against some high powered offenses. Russell Wilson attempted 52 passes. He had 1 fumble 3 int's and 26 completions. The Pirate defense forced 11 QB HURRIES (no Sacks). Contrast the hype to the reality. Dom Davis attempted 53 passes, completed 37, 0 int's , 0 fumbles , was hurried only 5 times (1 Sack).
Ever since the 1st quarter whistle blew against Southern Miss, this defense has looked like a grown up team who has come into their own. I want to say that over the past 2 games, opponents are 8-38 on 3rd down conversions against this young defense
Marshall won't keep it within 3 TD's of this ECU squad. Sorry. That might sound square and biased and like I'm always on the Pirates to cover, but I can't ignore the facts. Marshall doesn't have the horses to run with this group and they won't. They're playing in a sick environment on Saturday and they'll get crushed in a big way.

Your analysis is sound, and I'm not one to take away from that. I like ECU myself...I just don't like the opening line of 13.5 and dropping 1 point with 83% of bets placed on ECU. I personally like the ECU Team Total OVER any number...against this Marshall squad.

Dont think the line is that far off. Marshall hung with WV and that is still on the minds of people as Marshall has been over valued every week since, most recently vs UCF.
LU......I was wrong about my Tigers last week....big time. Shit happens. Anything over 50% is pretty good.....so being over 80% is incredible. What you must not do is go on tilt and let people or the pressure get to you. I'll be on ECU with you my friend

Everybody saw them also get blown the hell out by UCF on their home turf last week. They are 1-5 ATS lost to a MAC squad, got blown out by nearly 30 to USM and UCF who are trying to chase ECU who probably is going to repeat as a C-USA champ. ECU just upset 2 teams in a row and is laying less than 2TD's.. at home.

I don't know if this is the right play, because the last 2 games that LuDawg bet, it was wrong, then he doesn't play the last 2 games, and of course, they covered pretty handily, so this week ECU is the play after taking a 2 week hiatus, so maybe it's a loser? You know what they say, buy low and sell high?

Playing devil's advocate, but ECU's rating is too high, and Marshall's rating is so low. Buy low and sell high, right? I know he's 37-8-1, but this 2010 football season, what's his record: 2-2? Last 2 weeks were "no plays", and ECU covers handily, so today he jumps on the bandwagon again, so maybe it will be a loser? Just sayin'
