Interesting reading to ponder:

Hawaii finished with a 4-4 record and went 3-5 against the spread during head coach Todd Graham's first season.

The Cougars finished the campaign No. 51 in SP+, making this clash one of the bigger mismatches of the bowl season.

Cougars own a plus-51 scoring margin in two games as double-digit favorites this season.

The Cougars' strength of schedule slots in at No. 58 nationally, compared to Hawaii at No. 94.

Important betting trends:

• Hawaii is 2-5 ATS in its last seven overall
• Hawaii is 0-4 ATS in its last four following an outright win
• Hawaii is 4-1 to the over in its last five bowl games
• Houston is 20-8 ATS in its last 28 games on grass
• Houston is 5-1 to the over during its last six bowl games

The Cougars were outgained in three games this year, but those outcomes came against Memphis, UCF, and BYU. They're coming off a loss in the season finale as a double-digit favorite, but Houston is 4-1 ATS after failing to cover.

So what's the pick?   I like Houston -10.   Talent, coaching, motivation, and its in Texas...Houston will have a few fans there, Hawaii won't...Good Luck!

Too many defensive players out for Houston. They are expecting 15-20 players out for the Bowl. Some opt outs and some failing to meet the grade mark to make a bowl.

and if Donavan is out then Hawaii will put up some points tomorrow.

Houston will outscore Hawaii regardless of the defensive players not playing.

Houston has many players out, some who failed their courses. Unknown who they are though. Just Google the head coach and read his comments.
