Wolves rolled into this Game last year 10-2 on a 9-0 run, and 6-2-1 ATS. They were favored by 1.5 over N Illinois and got drilled by 18. Hugh Freeze had bolted for Ole Miss and his Coordinators shared the play calling. More talent. And 5 TO's, missed assignments, penalties, and chaos. This year's bunch enters on a 7 game run, 6-1 ATS, and 9-3 overall. And as stated, no Coach. DejaVu.
If you're one that breaks down stats, you'll find 2 things fairly consistent with the Wolves in big games. Turnovers and penalties. Don't take my word for it, check em. About 8 penalties a game. Kent ranks #2 in the nation with 38 takeaways. Advantage Kent.
Maybe not the octane, not nearly a QB as good as Alpin, but better special teams and a better D. And they've run the ball on everyone with the exception of N Ill in the Championship Game and Kentucky. Ran it big-time against Rutgers on the road in a 12 point win. 225 yds against the #11 Rush D in the country. Advantage Kent.
You can tell me how weak the MAC is. I know that; but they sent 7 teams Bowling this year. Only 2 Wins. Both against this same Sun Belt. Central Michigan (6-6) outstatted and beat Sun Belt king WKy by 6 as a 3 pt dog. Wolves lost at home to Toppers by 13. Turnovers and penalties. The only other MAC was an Ohio U demolition of Sun Belt's LA-Monroe, winning by 31 as 6 pt dogs. Advantage KENT.
Maybe the Sun Belt is due for a good game against a MAC school. But 3 outright wins in a row with an ATS Margin of 65.5 pts is kida hard to overlook. Even for a dumb mouse.
