much easier to recruit in LA than in Knoxville. No knock on Knoxville, my friends went there to watch Cal play Tenn, and they absolutely loved the city, but its not LA.

That's why I hate to lose Orgeron because Tennessee is not a very fertile home recruiting base.A strong national recruiter is a must here.

not at all. It had nothign to do with Pete.
Lets see, Kiffin left for the Raiders. Chow left for the Titans. Orgeron left for Mississippi (? Cant remember if he stopped off somewhere else before that). Sark left for UW. They all left for better opportunites, thats all.

Rick Neuheisel went from grinning at the thought of Pete leaving, seeing the potential demise across town, to now seeing an all star cast being put together. He's screwed.

their best memories were at USC. Pete and Norm supposedly didnt get along. Pete didnt like Chow getting so much credit when he was the OC at USC. He was jealous.

not saying he stepped down ...he made a lateral move ...if usc goes on probabtion..then he stepped down.my point is usc is not the best job in all of college football..its not like he left the browns for the colts..thats my point..loyalty to the 110 kids you lied to. this shit has to stop sometime because its them who ultimately pays the price..if he left for the nfl i would say ok but not to go across country to usc..they have the same chance to make money and win as coaches in knoxville as they do at usc,

I've enjoyed our banter tonight Trojan but I'm calling it a night.In closing however I pose one question;Is it really possible to refer to a BCS coaching staff as "An all star staff" when the HC has a career coaching record of 12-21. 
If that is all star worthy than Neuheisel at 77-44 must be considered whatever you want to call the next step beyond all star.

yes, its an all star staff. Name better coaching staffs than what USC is about to get in Kiffin, EO, and Chow?
There are certainly a couple of programs with better staffs (certainly Bama), but you cant count pass 5 trying to figure out a better staff.
Take a look at Neuheisel's staff. Its a joke.

Usc isnt the best job? Ok, but how many jobs are better? Easily top 5 right now. EASILY. Tenn isnt even in the top 2 in its own conference!
USC can go on probation at it would be equal. You have to realize, what ever penalties come their way won't demolish the program. you wont see multiple year post season bans. We'll be talking about how USC got away with murder. I can see the threads already.
Do you realize Bama is currently on probation? How's that going for them?
If you think Tenn has the same chance as USC, you're a Tenn fan.

what makes usc the best job in college football? and if it is why the hell is lane kiffen the coach? can you win at UT? yes up until a few years ago we played in the orange sugar or some other newyears day bowl every year...we have always recruited top talent although it harder to do so. and we pay our couchesas good as any..our facitlities and fan base are some of the best in the nation.....what makes usc so much of a better job? because you get to play the pac 10 schedule and notre dame every year? or the beach?

really? First, take the Tenn goggles off.
second, Kiffin is a USC guy. He knows it very well, as well as the recruiting base. Its a natural fit.
not arguing fan base or facilities. Tenn has great ones. takes more than that to be successful. Fans dont play the game.
Finally, lets take a look at Los Angeles vs. Knoxville? Way more exposure in LA, maybe not always a good thing.
And that lousy Pac10? The one with a shitty UCLA team who just went into Knoxville and beat UT? Oh yeah, that one.

UT has taken small steps backwards? Fullmer left that program in shambles. 7-6 was ok this year at UT.
If USC goes 7-6 this year, Kiffin is gone.
UT is a top 20 program, yes. Top 10? Hmmm, VERY questionable.

i hate he left not because of him leaving..the timing and who he is taking with him is what bothers me..he did the same ill bring my daddy and a bunch of good coaches with me when we hired him..and we were saying the same things you guys are now... people of that character tend to not turn out to be the best leaders. if we can hire someone in the next couple of days and keep our recruits we will be fine.

timing sucks. but its life. Timing sucked for Pete to leave USC, but I didnt take it personally.
The funny thing is Vols nation was absolutely thrilled to be 7-6 this year, now you want to say he's overrated?
Let it go. No need to be sour. Life goes on and Tenn will hire someone as good if not better.
