That's why I hate to lose Orgeron because Tennessee is not a very fertile home recruiting base.A strong national recruiter is a must here.

nobody serious is saying they will win a NC. Not at all. Thats foolish.
but you;re foolish if you think USC played a week ass schedule. Nobody played more quality out of conference opponents than USC. Look it up.
I know you're upset, but stop acting like he's taking a step down. USC has WAY more tradition.
Does it make you scratch your head for a second and wonder if Carroll was the problem (interpersonally speaking) after seeing Chow and Kiffin and Ogeron return w/o hesitation?
Not implying anything, just puttin it out there for you to weigh in.
And the grumblings are that Mike Garrett may be doing more harm than good these days...

No, but when you're a program like USC, your top 10 list will be marvelous no matter how you look at it. I dont think they thought Kiffin was available. He's a way better hire than their so called #1 choice (Riley). Better fit than Del Rio, based on his familiarity with recruiting.
Dont forget, Pete Carroll was the 6th choice. That turned out ok.
Gotta look at the big picture with this hire. I dont know if you realize what he's bringing, in terms of a coaching staff.

not at all. It had nothign to do with Pete.
Lets see, Kiffin left for the Raiders. Chow left for the Titans. Orgeron left for Mississippi (? Cant remember if he stopped off somewhere else before that). Sark left for UW. They all left for better opportunites, thats all.

Norm will be signed by tomorrow.
Rick Neuheisel went from grinning at the thought of Pete leaving, seeing the potential demise across town, to now seeing an all star cast being put together. He's screwed.

Thanks for your opinion...it just seems peculiar that they are all flocking back like a damn reunion!

their best memories were at USC. Pete and Norm supposedly didnt get along. Pete didnt like Chow getting so much credit when he was the OC at USC. He was jealous.

I've enjoyed our banter tonight Trojan but I'm calling it a night. In closing however I pose one question; Is it really possible to refer to a BCS coaching staff as "An all star staff" when the HC has a career coaching record of 12-21.
If that is all star worthy than Neuheisel at 77-44 must be considered whatever you want to call the next step beyond all star.

yes, its an all star staff. Name better coaching staffs than what USC is about to get in Kiffin, EO, and Chow?
There are certainly a couple of programs with better staffs (certainly Bama), but you cant count pass 5 trying to figure out a better staff.
Take a look at Neuheisel's staff. Its a joke.

lateral? are you smoking weed? Lateral? How is this even lateral?
Usc isnt the best job? Ok, but how many jobs are better? Easily top 5 right now. EASILY. Tenn isnt even in the top 2 in its own conference!
USC can go on probation at it would be equal. You have to realize, what ever penalties come their way won't demolish the program. you wont see multiple year post season bans. We'll be talking about how USC got away with murder. I can see the threads already.
Do you realize Bama is currently on probation? How's that going for them?
If you think Tenn has the same chance as USC, you're a Tenn fan.

Lane Kiffin has already taken a look and taken a beating from Neuheisel's staff as he lost at home to a team with far less talent. So what happened?
Goodnight!

what makes usc the best job in college football? and if it is why the hell is lane kiffen the coach? can you win at UT? yes up until a few years ago we played in the orange sugar or some other newyears day bowl every year...we have always recruited top talent although it harder to do so. and we pay our couchesas good as any..our facitlities and fan base are some of the best in the nation.....what makes usc so much of a better job? because you get to play the pac 10 schedule and notre dame every year? or the beach?

yes, and Urban lost to Miss last year. whats your point? If it wasnt a great staff, why do you care now that they are gone?

really? First, take the Tenn goggles off.
second, Kiffin is a USC guy. He knows it very well, as well as the recruiting base. Its a natural fit.
not arguing fan base or facilities. Tenn has great ones. takes more than that to be successful. Fans dont play the game.
Finally, lets take a look at Los Angeles vs. Knoxville? Way more exposure in LA, maybe not always a good thing.
And that lousy Pac10? The one with a shitty UCLA team who just went into Knoxville and beat UT? Oh yeah, that one.

WAS is the key word?
UT has taken small steps backwards? Fullmer left that program in shambles. 7-6 was ok this year at UT.
If USC goes 7-6 this year, Kiffin is gone.
UT is a top 20 program, yes. Top 10? Hmmm, VERY questionable.

you obviously think the whole world feels the same way about usc and LA as you do...thats ok. and ucla beating ut has nothing to do with the pac 10 being a weak..UT is down right now.

how so? If I did, I would be saying USC is the best program, which is what most idiot USC fans would tell you.
I'm realistic. We're talking USC vs. Tenn here. In that case, its not even close.
You just said it all. Tenn is down right now, and has been down. 5-7 last year.
USC just won 9 games and everyone says the program is done. If Kiffin had won 9 this year at UT, the stadium would be names after him

timing sucks. but its life. Timing sucked for Pete to leave USC, but I didnt take it personally.
The funny thing is Vols nation was absolutely thrilled to be 7-6 this year, now you want to say he's overrated?
Let it go. No need to be sour. Life goes on and Tenn will hire someone as good if not better.
