Navy at Notre Dame huge write-up

Now normally I wouldn't do something like this, but I want to tell you why this is the best spot to lay points for Notre Dame all season.

#1 - Notre Dame's problems on defense has been stopping the pass.  Against Navy they won't have to worry about stopping the pass.  Notre Dame's rush defense is actually pretty good.  They have been steadily improving on that side of the ball in all aspects all season long.  I don't see the Irish having any trouble stopping the triple option this weekend.  Last 3 games for the Irish only allowing 97 yards a game.  That's against USC, Boston College, and Washington State.  Home Games they really have stopped the run.  Really shut down the Nevada team.  I don't really take anything from early on but I guess thats the most similar team, considering how much they run the football.

#2 - Possible return of Michael Floyd.  Most of you might have forgotten about Michael Floyd since Golden Tate has absolutely ripped it up this season, in his absense.  Michael Floyd is by far our best pure receiver, and personally I don't think their is a more dominant one in college football when on the field.  This season Michael Floyd has 13 catches for 358 yards and 5 touchdowns.  In just 2 and a half games.  That is staggering numbers, he is averaging over 27 yards a catch.  If he plays this week Navy will almost have no answer for Tate, Floyd and Rudolph and their defense will get shredded badly all day long.  Michael Floyd is the perfect receiver the combination of speed, strength, catching ability, jumping ability, he's just a freak of nature.  I can't stress enough if he plays, Navy won't have any answers.  Which opens up the running game which has improved greatly from last season.  The line has been opening up bigger holes.

#3 - Notre Dame is probably the best team in the country at protecting the ball.  I'd assume the only way Navy hangs around in this game is if we commit turnovers.  Which just has not been the case the entire season.  Jimmy Clausen has 18 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions.

#4 - Navy hasn't played anyone even close to being comparable to the passing attack of the Irish.  The closest statistically speaking is Southern MethodistA team they really struggled to beat.  Navy's passing defense may look good but they really haven't played a team that has a good passing attack.  Notre Dame has statistically the 8th best in the nation, but based on competion and all that I'd have to say they are definitely top 5.  Nobody can say that they are not.  Navy's secondary is in for an extremely long day with Floyd and Tate.  Assuming Floyd is playing.  Rudolph will also be a huge mismatch for anyone trying to cover him.  If they play soft zones we will gash them with the rushing attack and short passes all day.  They won't be able to double team Floyd and Tate.
Or Triple Team for that matter.  Which Tate has learned to break...

Navy's injury concerns.  Ricky Dobbs QB is questionable, one of the starting rbs Marcus Curry is also questionable. 

Last years game @ Navy was really a laugher if you guys don't remember.  The game was 27-7, mind you this was a better Navy team, and definitely a worse Notre Dame team last season.  Anyway the game was 27-7, before Navy scored 2 late garbage touchdowns in the last 2 minutes of the game to make it 27-21.  Notre Dame really gashed them with the run, because our offensive line has a massive size advantage over Navy's front 7.  Remember our Rush offense was one of the worst last season and they put up 230 yards on these chumps.  I don't see us having any problems moving the ball what so ever in this game.  I don't see Navy stopping us, I don't see Navy really moving the ball.  The only way I think this game will be close is if Navy can force turnovers, but if history repeats itself Notre Dame will protect the ball just as normal.  Jimmy Clausen doesn't force the ball and does not make mistakes.  He has complete transformed since his Freshman year, to become I believe the best true thrower in the NCAA.  I believe Mallett is close, but I still think Clausen is better.

Again this play for me is going to be based on the return of Floyd.  Most likely I will not play the game if he doesn't play.  If I do I'll play it very small.  With Floyd in the game though I will be playing it fairly hard.

I would recommend.

Notre Dame -11, up to ND -14.   Large whatever Large is for you. 

If I get Notre Dame -11 I will play it for 10 U's.  As I think this is a great spot to lay chalk with the Irish.  Will know Michael Floyd's status sometime tomorrow, probably very early unless I can come across something tonight.  I know he knows already, wish I could find out somehow.  Now I know I'm a homer.  But these are facts and the facts are the facts.  I truly believe that this will be a blowout.  I don't think this game will ever be close.  Thats why I feel it is warranting a very strong play.

Road Team is 13-1 against the spread in the last 14 meetings.  I find that hilarious.  They place that for suckers to fall for.  This is going to be a blow out.  If Floyd goes the game won't ever be close.  If Dobbs doesn't go for Navy, they don't have a shot in hell.  Good Luck Degenerates.  Hope you all appreciate this, and take advantage of this.  Thank You..

Great write-up.  Makes alot of sense.  Can't disagree with any of your points.  Not a big ND fan, but I believe you are right.  I can easily see ND winning by at least 2 TD's.  BOL.

Thank you, I just had to do this, this week.  I felt obligated because of the line.  Begging for action on Navy.  Just like week 1 ND -17 they were begging for bettors on Nevada.  I guess you can make the argument that Floyd won't be a factor.  Personally I think he has been ready to play since USC.  He has been practicing at full speed.  Saturday he was working with the receivers pre-game catching balls with the injured shoulder no problems.  The staggering number on Floyd is 5 touchdowns in just 2.5 games.  That is ridiculous.

Big Notre Dame fan here, have watched all there games (was at the Alamodome Saturday night) and I couldn't agree with you more.  This will be the first time I will be betting on the Irish this season.  This line reminds me of the -10 they were laying at a winless Washington team last year.  The weakness of this year's team (just like the Washington game last year) can't be exploited by their opponent. 
Remember that Jimmy aggreviated that toe injury as well and I do worry that he will get pulled sooner rather than later and his backup's fumble on Saturday led to the non-cover on Saturday.  Good luck and I can't wait to see Floyd on the field either.

Crist got injured on the play.  Which could potentially be bad for us.  I'm actually anxious to see what his MRI results are too.  He looked very capable once he settled in.  I am not worried anymore even if Clausen leaves this season.  I cannot wait on Michael Floyd.  The suspense is killing me at this point. 

Clausen aggravates his toe every week, I'm not really worried about him he will play unless he cant walk.  He wanted to go back in and Charlie would not let him.

I'd wait until tomorrow.  I will post immediately in hearing if Floyd is playing or not.  If he is playing I expect it to go up, if not I expect it to go down.  Which I will still hit it, even when it comes down.

I don't know bro, Dame seems to play to their competition and Navy is a solid team that won't quit, a 10 point win wouldn't surprise me here, just my opinion, I have a small lean to Navy but probably not enough for a bet

Didn't play down to their competition last week.  I want to make something clear.  Even though it is Navy and they are part of our armed forces.  Charlie in his heart of hearts absolutely hates Navy.  He would love to embarrass them, for the lose in South Bend 2 seasons ago.  Your right we have played down, but again we haven't had Floyd for the whole season.  The only game he was fully healthy for was the Nevada game.  Then in the Michigan game he cut his knee deep and had to leave to get stitches, I have no doubt if he were playing in the end we would have never lost.  They were triple covering Tate and we really didn't have anyone else to go to at that point.  So Michigan State game he has stitches in his knee and then breaks his collarbone.  We are a completely different team with him.  The dynamic of the team changes when he is on the field.  The thing about Navy Wahoo is if Notre Dame lights it up early and gets a sizable lead.  Navy really has no passing game to get themselves back into the game.  Which the back door is taken away.  I really like this game.  I fully expect Notre Dame to rip them apart.  Floyd makes that much of a difference.  If you haven't watched him play yet, watch him.  He is ridiculously good.  I mean for a Sophmore personally I haven't seen a receiver better.  I fully expect this kid to be the #1 WR drafted when he comes out if he is fully healthy.  Top 5 pick potential in my opinion.  He is a game changer.  This kid will really impress you.  He was dynamic as a Freshman last year.

I haven't seen much of him but you have me interested, I hope he plays so I can watch him, I am a true fan of college football and appreciate a player with special talents and that is supposed to be "that good", I'm eager to watch him, he sure gets alot of love from Notre Dame fans, I have a friend that is a Notre Dame alumni and he raves about him as well 

I have enjoyed Jimmy and Golden this year, they are both great players

I hope he plays too.  Hell they had him listed as out for the season.  They've been talking about his potential return for this game for weeks now it seems.  He has dressed for every game since USC, in full pads on the sidelines.  The guys abilities are outstanding.  You think Golden Tate is impressive, now granted they are completely different players.  This guy blows the doors off of Tate as far as being a pure pass receiver is concerned.  Again like any young receiver his route running isn't the greatest yet.  I remember looking at him on the sidelines last week against Wazzou with his arms crossed this kids arms are humongous.  He looks like David Boston when he got all roided up as a 19 year old kid.  The kid has unlimited capabilities.  He has all the tools.  Jimmy has been fantastic this season, I remember in my Notre Dame offensive preview this season I said he is going to really light it up this year and would be surprised if he wasn't invited to the Heisman ceremony.  I thought that he had that good of a shot at that point. I also said they would go 12-0 though The thing about Jimmy that has impressed me the most is his pocket presense and his ability to look off safeties this season.  Not to mention he has been pretty much perfect.  He can make all the throws.  He to me is a better thrower than Bradford already. 

Bradford to me was the product of tremendous offensive line last season and a lot of talent surrounding him.  I really messed up week 1 when I played Oklahoma.  I remember I thought that Oklahoma would have a lot of troubles on the offensive line this season, and thought BYU could exploit that.  I was just an idiot really early.  Oh well man.  Yeah hope you get a shot to see him.  He won't fail to impress.  Good luck this week buddy

ND with or without Floyd Whodes.

I took the 11.5.  Clausen left last game with turf toe and the back up is out,  Armando Allen also sat out with an ankle injury, alot of points for a banged up ND squad.  Navy has a great history vs the spread against ND.  ND giving up 4 yards a carry on the year.  If navy can pull off the upset the go to a bowl so  they will be playing their guts out, just hope they keep it close.

Clausen has had turf toe all season long.  They only pulled him because they were up by a whole bunch of points.  Honestly I think Robert Hughes will be a tougher task for the Navy team to stop because of his size.  Notre Dame isn't really all that banged up.  Armando may play by the way.  Plus freshman Theo Riddick is a hell of a change of pace back and might be the fastest guy on the field.  Clausen will be fine on Saturday like normal.  He will be walking around like nothing is wrong.  He was begging to go back into the game and Charlie would not let him.  So that is a non factor.  Armando may play, but again I think Hughes would be a tougher task for them personally.  He dashed through Wazzou.  He when gets a chance really plays good.  So I'm not worried about that either.  The thing you have to remember about us now, is we have depth at all the specialty positions, unlike years past.  We run 4 deep at the RB position,and even 5 if we line Golden Tate back up there.  He is fully capable of carrying the ball as a running back.  An injury at a RB position for us is not even close or nearly as bad as an injury for a RB for a Navy team because of their lack of depth.  So in my opinion those injury's are completely irrelevant.  ND's rush defense has really improved since the bye week.  They haven't really been dashed on the ground at all.  They have contained the run.  The pass has been their achilles heel.  I think just a few adjustments would fix that problem though.  If they would switch to more zone coverages rather than blitzing so much with a lot of man to man coverage I think it would be a huge help.  I honestly don't think we have the personell yet to run a Tenuta heavy blitz defense.  Especially on the outside.  Gary Gray has been good in man to man but thats about it in my opinion.  ND covered although the two touchdowns for Navy in the last 2 minutes of the game last year.  I fully expect a blowout here.  Navy has got ran over by good teams.  Notre Dame is a good team.  Good luck man.  I think that Irish manhandle Navy on both sides of the ball.

No.  He reaggrevated it on a sack he took in the 3rd qtr.  Allen is not 100%.  I'm sure they will both play though.  Just think it's too many pts and see the line dropping. GL though.

I know he re-aggravated it but if the game was close he wouldn't have came out.  He was wanting to come back out.  They were up a whole bunch of points so he was not needed at that point.  He re-aggravates it every week it is nothing new.  So your logic behind the game is just too many points?  Is that how you cap games?  Not trying to be a dick or anything but if that's how you cap games you won't be capping very much longer.

Allen isn't a big loss.
