Instead of laying down all of the stats I have prepared for this one I will simply tell you that this game comes down to one big thing for me, "How does Rutgers perform without Mr. Rice"? That too me is the biggest question heading into this contest.
I truly beleive that Rice made everything on that offense work. I do not think that Teel is capable of carrying this offense by himself and while he has Underwood and Britt returning as his go to targets I do not htink he will have time to find his wideouts. Rice made all the difference in not only the running game, but also in the passing game for the Scarlet Knights as opposing defenses had to respect the run first with him back there. That hesitation gave Teel time to find his receivers.
I see a Scarlet Knight team that went from 11-2 and the National Spotlight in 2006 to 8-5 and bad losses to UConn, Maryland, and Louisville in 2007. On the other hand I see a Fresno State team that went form 4-8 in 2006 to 9-4 last year and looking for more improvement this year.
I do beleive, as I beleived in the Utah/Michigan game, that the wrong t eam is favored in this one.
Again, I am not going to dazzle anyone with stats, trends, and other info on this game. I am simply going to say that Rutgers has a HUGE hole to fill without Rice and in my humble opinion Teel is NOT the man to fill it.

dark - BOL bro. Like I said, no stats, trends, etc...just a huge feeling that Rutgers is NOT going to be anywhere near as proficient offensively as they were with Rice. Again, BOL today my friend.

cgailey52 - I really can see no other way of looking at this matchup besides what has been stated. I do beleive that Prince Charming (Schiano) looks mortal this year. The drop off from 2006 to 2007 will continue IMO.

Well, no complaints here for the first week of NCAA Gridiron action! I will say however that New Mexico and Memphis were big disappointments as I thought that they were very live dawgs and neither actually showed up. Additionally, Tennessee getting beat outright with 4 INTs to their credit was certainly not what I expected. Nonetheless, a great first week and really looking forward to next weekends action.
