If they can't beat the Illini, and go 3-2 in the process, then the over 4.5 is officially toast.
Warm, buttery toast.
As far as an angle goes, take a look at how NFL journeymen washout coaches have fared in the NCAA (not quick departures like Saban, Petrino, and even Pete Carroll before USC)....the record ain't good. I would say that Wannastedt is the dean of that class.
Lovie at Illinois will be over quick.....mediocre NFL player coaches=disaster at the college level. And it starts this week.
FWIW, the preseason power ratings (and yes I still look at those, not for wagering but for reference) have Illinois as the second worst team and -1. Bettors are giving Ill 3.5 on top of a hard 7 opener for covering last week against a Mike Riley team that is a heavy favorite? Are you kidding?
Two bad teams on the way down.....in front of a half empty stadium in Champagne.... I will gladly take the +375. And will likely only watch a series or two in each half.....you wanna know why? Because bad football depresses me.
Neither of these teams place in the top 3 of the Missouri Valley Conference. And you can book that.

Couple of errors you made in the observation of my alleged errors. I'll be happy to point them out here:
Foreman wasn't "untouched" - he was hurt in the endzone on a criminal non-call the drive before as he was slung to the cement OOB
D'Onta Foreman did go down 'untouched'. Of course he was bruised and battered during the game but when he went down, he took himself to the carpet, untouched. Watch the replay. No one near him touched him.
TX QB has been playing hurt - he's considerably better than Swoopes who beat OU last year with a vanilla playbook. Just look how Swoopes performed when inserted at Cal after the injury.
You're making the wrong comparison between QB's. We are not comparing Swoopes to Buechele. We are comparing Heard/Swoopes, the duo that beat OK last year to Buechele. And I would take Heard/Swoopes both of whom are familiar with the opponent over a true freshman in this rivalry. This kid is not going to get it done tomorrow.
OUs strength this year is on the ground (Mixon), which is where Texas has played decent defense. Their receiving corp is the weakest of any team Texas has played and not near as good as prior OU teams.
Don't forget Samje Perine who looks like he's morphing back into that record-breaking 427 yard game rusher.
But really this point you are making is a bit of stretch when you have a pre-season Heisman Trophy candidate behind center. Watch where Mayfield puts the ball tomorrow behind the secondary.
TX has kicked Stoops behind the past three years (won 2 of 3) and Charlie has been far better coach than Stoops.
So when OK was reeling off 50+ pts a game average to get to the BCS Playoff after Texas beat them last year, Charlie...CHARLIE!!, was the better coach...Ok..
So go ahead and lay DDs, but its nowhere near the layup you think. The reason I stay away is I don't know Buechele and Foreman's health. If Buechele can't throw 20 yard outs like last week, OU wins by DDs.
NO one said a rivalry game is a 'layup'. I said it's a cover. That's all that matters. And what also matters is that when Texas loses they tend to drop their pants (see TCU last year, OK state this year, Cal TY with an unexcusable 50 given up) so I'm quite comfortable laying 10 at that even after the line opened at 7. And the fact you aren't betting the Longhorns as a Texas homer, for whatever reason, says it all. Foreman's health and Bueschele's health is in my cap and should be in any.
I would go on and counter your other points, but when a guy is typing a rebuke in a burnt orange pullover with his pinky and forefinger in the air, it's not gonna get through to the writer.

That's fine Vern. Let's make a shi*load of money off them in the process as we've done 2 games so far. We can MORE than recoup in the right spots.

Sounds good. I have been fortunate this calendar year, but losing the 4.5 is still going to suck. I agree with you on Hazell...he is just flat terrible...why someone would knowingly go down with a passive defensive scheme is beyond me.
Won't argue on the logic with OU/Texas matchup...as a general rule I pass on rivalry games because crazy sh*t happens...but Charlie is toast, and he lasted one year longer than I though he would. The Baylor upset bought him this season.
Personally, I cannot wait for the live betting bookmaker is offering on election night...already brushing up on my timezones and electoral count. No matter which side one is on, there are going to be some real opportunities there to cash in....media slant, exit polling, threatened lawsuits...potential riots...it would be a CRIME to not make some money off of the chaos.

Vern, Purdue just isn't going to take it down tomorrow.
When Hazell was asked what he needed to improve in the post-game presser, he calmly said (as he always does like he'll be coach for the next 10 years)... "Everything". And he meant it. That's not happening in one week.
Vern, just parlay every dime you have with Hillary who in three hours tonight jumped from -285 to -330.
All you need to know is this:
"Grab them by the pu**y". You can talk about Benghazi and emails until you are blue in the face but those words 'Trump' all of that. The electorate, specifically women, will not elect this man.
13.5 now Big D? my god...I thought 11.5 was the upper bound...
Snow, haven't we been through this middling business???? You know how hard it is to catch a middle! By the time you do, you'll have coughed up so much juice it won't matter!
