OSU vs Northwestern

Just trying to see what some other opinions are on this one. 

I believe that NW has no chance against OSU and I believe this will be an absolute blow out. 

Styles make fights and I think NW style of play is perfect for OSU. 

NW Offense: 

-Great line this year and can really pound the football (Cam Porter is going to be a star much like Larkin was. Same HS, different running style. My son played HS ball with Cam and he is a great kid in every way) 

-NW weakness on offense is their passing ability as they are average at best. 

-Their offense is made to control and time of possession and the ball the ball but are not made to score a ton of points. 

OSU Defense: 

-Great at stopping the run as the front 7 are the strength of their defense. 

-Lack in pass coverage especially against good passing teams (Ind) 

The result of this if simply that NW is going to have a very had time scoring points. Their O-line is not going to push around this defensive front. 

OSU secondary is good enough to cover this mediocre passing attach and prevent big plays. 

OSU Offense vs NW Defense: 

-NW is going to be able to give the rushing game problems, especially in the first half. 

 -I do not think NW will be able slow down the passing attack though. OSU line will be able to Fields a lot of time unless they blitz like crazy and if they do they will be carved up on their cross routes. 

The bottom line: 

I don't see this being close. 

NW is going to have a very hard time scoring more than 17 points against this defense with their offensive style. 

I cannot see NW stopping OSU from scoring at least 42 on then. 

OSU will play the starters all game as the matter in which they win this game matters. If OSU can score 70, they will. 

Just my thoughts. Would love to hear yours. 

The way NW slows it down and plays defense, if Fields makes one or two mistakes this game could absolutely shock people by the score at half. NW keeps everything in front and forces you to drive the football, fields gets impatient and still takes far too many sacks. Ohio State will win the game but it wouldn't shock me if it takes until the 2nd half to get separation like the Wisconsin game last year in the Big Ten Championship game. 

If Urban Meyer was still coaching the Buc's I would like it better for OSU to really run up the score. With Day, ehhhh, I think so.

They do need to, the SEC boys already complaining Buckeyes only played 5 games and only one quality opponent. A good blowout would ice a spot in the playoffs. 

NW doesn't have the athletes to control Fields and his WR's and does not have the offensive fire power to keep up.

Ohio State defense will probably allow NW to run some clock and I see the only hope for NW to stay in the game is for the Buckeyes to screw up offensively, very unlikely.

I believe NW has a real shot at winning this baby not saying yes NW will win but they can control the clock if that happens NW has a good team with a really good coach 21 points is to many to give up to NW

What did Indiana do to Fields et al? This NW dee is way better

OSU has to roll them or they risk committee telling them they aren’t cutting it with their short weak schedule. They need to pound NW

Who is better than OSU besides Alabama?? Sagarin rated them 107 rating while Alabama and Clemson were 101 and 98 so I believe Jeff Sagarin has a pulse on talent in his research...and a lot of what he had pre-season has played out

 Nice write up . I’m in Ohio, your right no way now who no how. Lay the 21.5 before it goes up. Not that it will matter.

This Ohio State team is far worse than last years Ohio State team. Clemson not as good as last year. Bama? Maybe just as good.

IMO, the Buckeyes are #4 at best. Defense is giving up nearly 10 more points per game, in a conference with a down year. No dominant running back like Dobbins.

The way the Buckeyes can blow out NW is crossing routes to WR's like Wilson and let them get that yac's. NW D-linemen stay in their lanes but rarely sack a qb. The NW secondary keeps everything in front of them. Crossing routes will be the answer, Fields will have all day to throw. 

Now Purdue used this same concept to upset the Buckeye's in 2018 as the buc's couldn't get it in the end zone. Don't see that here. 

I’m playing northwestern and a huge buckeye fan.  That’s just too much points. 

OSU by 32, maybe more

NW does not have enough offense to keep up...TOSU's defense may be slightly down this year but NW offense is avenge...Only chance for NW is if they can get out to a lead and shorten the game..If TOSU gets up early...not sure they can keep up..Game in on turf and in a dome....Speed kills and no weather factors...

I also love the over 57 in this game...

I'm on the Under 57.  I think Ohio St. scores in the low 30's. and NW short of 20, or very low 20's.  NW's defense will give

it's best effort for this game.

If OSU defense shows up at all, this is a blowout 

Secondary was crap against Indiana but played better against Michigan State

Both of these teams are no good. The Big Ten is awful and should be excluded from the playoff.  I don't want a (6-0) team that didn't play an entire season making it to the playoff because it's not fair to other teams who played several more games and fought through more injuries and tougher teams. The Big Ten should have just cancelled their season and stuck with it. 

My prediction Ohio st can score 6 Touchdown that mean 42 points . Dont know how much can northwestern can keep up .

Look af Mich St game and you know what I mean .

This game could be Over for sure if northwestern can score i17 points in the cold .
