UNLV was a mess that night and SDSU was only mildly interested in that game even though they had a 2-1 edge in TOP and 4-1 in yardage.  Only scored 26 and won by 19 covering by 2-3 depending on your line.

Now...Aztecs defense is very good against the recent poor competition they have faced.   They aren't the 85 Bears like some people think.

They've dominated the likes of:
UNLV who completed 2 passes with a new QB
Fresno (123rd in scoring)
San Jose St (99th in scoring)
Utah St (97th in scoring)
Hawaii (87th in scoring)
Nevada (114th in scoring)

That it what you want in a defense when playing sub-par competition.  

Now they will be challenged against the 18th ranked scoring offense.   They allowed 40 to Cal, 28 to NIU so they can give up points.  They blitz a lot from the 3-3-5 and play a ton of man to man.   They were beaten deep a few times by Nevada, so if Wyoming can get deep they will have some success.  

Wyoming has more to play for than being at home and Senior day... they can win the West division, something they have never done.   Don't know why that is being overlooked.

What is being overlooked? Why does Wyoming have so much more to play for in the Moutain West crown when San Diego State is playing to compete in a major bowl and one of its greatest seasons in school history? The latter is chopped liver?? It's like if SDSU has locked up A bowl, their work is done or watered down somehow but Wyoming, WELL BUSTER, they have SO much more to play for with that MW CROWN! That's ludicrous.

And Wyoming has played much of the same "sub-par" competition you've referenced and hasn't been impressive (Nevada, UNLV, even allowing Utah State to almost tie them at home after a 35-7 lead, a team SDSU destroyed going away 40-13 ).

This isn't the 86 Bears we know this. But the common opponent (and there are a nice chunk of them) stats between these two teams are laughable if you want to make any reasonable comparisons.

And again, I have to stress the tired defense:

97 plays. By far the most of any team last weekend.

Craig Bohl said in his post-game presser the team was so gassed they wouldn't even LOOK at the UNLV tape to analyze mistakes until Tuesday and then they'd start on SDSU just to give the guys a day or two of reprieve from the beating they took and the loss.

You definitely make some good points here. I still think it's extremely impressive what the SDSU defense is doing though. Yes, it is against some weaker competition, however most of it is still against teams within the conference. They are top 10 unit in the country in both ypa and ypc against. 

I am concerned about the elevation and potential for weather (I haven't checked the forecast for the game). I'm just not sure if Wyoming can get to 21-24 points, which is what I think they'll need to have a chance to cover this game (total is currently around 58.5). 

Still though, you make some valid points.

Weather and elevation + rowdy Cowboy drunkards + favorable reffing (missed targeting call + missed pass interference call) angles happened already.

All vs. Boise. SDSU has this tape to examine and overcome. 

That proverbial ship...ha sailed.

This Destroyer....is coming into Laramie, taking anything it wants and leaving only the scraps. Get on board or abandon ship because this baby is leaving the dock ASAP.

Lot of good arguments back and forth here.
Looking at SDSU's road record has me leaning SDSU -9.5. Also seeing -9 at MGM.
With the exception of the South Alabama road lose, (SDSU off a bye) SDSU has looked pretty good on the road.

Keep trying to throw the UNLV game out of the equation, but how the hell do you give up 69 points to UNLV??? That team is a beatup, patchwork club. Maybe Wyoming had a night on the strip before the game???
Going with Scal on this one, and waiting for more line drop as looks like Wyoming is getting some backing.

Unless I misread it, you said in post #71  "But after capping it, I don't see how anything other than Laramie and senior day motivates this team. "

Doesn't that show that you are discounting the chance for their first MW division title as motivation?   

Not arguing the play, I'm not touching it personally......but there are points about it being missed in here and I know enough about SDSU to add to the thread.

I might be missing something here but Wyoming can't officially clinch the division Saturday. The UNLV loss created a three way tie between Wyoming, Boise, and New Mexico. All of them have one conference loss. Wyoming has New Mexico on deck next week too.

Boise hosts UNLV tomorrow and goes to Air Force the following week. New Mexico is at Colorado State Saturday. 

Have to think Wyoming is an underdog to clinch the division at this point.

Reeks of Jdr. He did the same thing with Marshall over Middle Tennessee play and sat there with an announced no-play as we all rolled cigars with the winnings. It screams "I like the play, but because I don't like Scal and he endorsed it, I'm too proud to play it."

Suit yourself! Plenty of other guys aren't too proud to play it. Let's go fellas. More for us!

They've been on my back for years and likely play every one of my plays while defaming them here. When ya rip off 6 in a row with every angle imaginable, who wouldn't. Well, don't underestimate the the troll folks. They're capable of anything.

How about an answer instead of a condescending comment?   I already addressed my thoughts about it in my thread.   I'm 5-0 on SDSU this year, 8-3 last 2 years.   I'm not feeling them this week.   Plain and simple.

WY is 3-3 SU/3-2-1 ATS in this series. The HT is 7-4 SU/6-4-1 ATS but the visitor is on a 4-1 SU/3-1-1 ATS run. LY SDSt was -24 at home jumped out to a 24-0 lead after 3Q’s in a 38-3 win. LTH was in ‘12 and the Aztecs (-7’) won on the road 42-28. WY is coming off an emotional 69-66 (-7’) 3OT loss at UNLV. The Cowboys went 97/9pl in 1:06 and got a td on the final play of reg but QB Allen’s int in the 3rd OT set up UNLV’s GW fg. WY was outg’ d 653-485 for the gm. SDSt enters off a 46-16 (-23) win at NV. SDSt set schl rec 474 rush yds incl 208 (20.8) from RB Penny and 198 (7.6) from RB Pumphrey as he moved into the #4 spot in the NCAA all time rush leaders. The win clinched the MW West Div and it was their 17th str MW win. WY is +75 ypg at home and -2 ypg in MW play. They avg 222 (4.9) rush ypg on the ssn. SDSt only allows 86 (2.8) rush ypg and is +222 ypg in MW play. The Aztecs D is #7, holding foes to 115 ypg less than their avg while WY is #111 on D, all’g 61 ypg more than their foes avg. This is WY’s home finale and they need to win to keep pace for the MW Mountain Div. SDSt is ply’g B2B road gms.

I thought the same thing about a Wyoming ML/LSU ML parlay at even money last week. That didn't pan out. 

I wouldn't be shocked if UNM beats CSU.

I absolutely play them if Stockstill plays. The line opened at +11 and if he plays that line is over 14/15, maybe even as high as 17. That's more than enough to compensate me in a game I still think they'd have a great chance of winning outright.

And believe me, the 75 was the motivator there. The stadium and atmosphere was electric that night. Everyone fed off it and Stockstill couldn't have stopped Marshall on D that night.

69-66 in triple OT. Parlays always take you out by the thinnest of margins. That is why books love parlays. One game will sink a 6 teamed under the most insane of circumstances.
