They played them for the national title this year... I am not saying it factors in to the team that auburn is this season vs the team oregon is this season, but it did technically happen this year.
Doesn't matter what kind of wins they are.... They are the SEC vs the rest and it proves that the SEC is once again, dominant.
You are right, Miss St. DID beat LaTech, I was thinking of Ole MISS who LOST to LaTech, which you conveniently left out. Sorry, I get those two crap Miss teams mixed up all the time. My bad. Sorry for mixing up the two craps and not calling you out on the REAL issue. 1) a SEC loss to a barely above average LaTech team (and I'm a Hawaii/WAC fan so for me to say the WAC champs are mediocre says alot) 2) that for the majority, the SEC hasn't beaten anyone of substance OOC, Oregon being the biggest scalp.
My apologies.

Hawk... why does it matter who they lost to, but it doesn't matter who they've beaten?
go back and read my post comparing this to the Boise debate from last year... then it was all about the fact they hadn't beaten anybody... now it's all about who you lost to...
that's horseshit! you can't have it both ways...
which is EXACTLY why i looked at the entire body of work... and THAT is how you really measure up two teams...
in logic, you take your argument to the extreme, if you want to test it and find out whether or not it is valid...
let's take your argument to the extreme... what if Alabama played Sun Belt teams the entire year, with a game against LSU sprinkled right in the middle... they would still only have 1 loss to LSU... would they still get to use your argument?
so the question becomes, where is the line at which that argument completely falls apart? and the answer is... it falls apart as soon as you can take it to the extreme and see that it falls apart...
you cannot kill the OSU argument in the same manner... as long as we have a situation with two 1-loss teams... my argument remains valid at both ends of the spectrum, but yours does not!
That's the biggest kaboom right there. Double standards by SEC fans. Nothing new. They used it against BSU for many years. What top teams did they play? Who cares if they only lost to a top team, they didn't beat anyone. Now that the shoes on the other foot, that argument doesn't hold water? Now it's who you lost to and not who did you beat week in and week out?

I have not read through this thread and don't plan to....but Ive been saying this for the past MONTH. Alabama has played NO ONE. Easily the WORST schedule of a top 3 team since the 90s. There defensive stats are overblown given the atrociousness of their opponent's offenses. But I give them credit for actually destroying and exposing those offenses. Other than this is nothing new and it pains me to hear everyone talk about this team without digging into the numbers. Any other team in the country and every analysis, homer, fan, gambler would have already did what Ice4Blood did in going behind the numbers. But this is the POST Pete Carrol USC era where the SEC is the "MOST DOMINATE" conference to ever play football
With the creation of the super-conferences up North and out West it will be like this from now on. The SEC will not have to schedule a game out of the South as long as the perception of the SEC is at all time high. Why schedule home and homes with other conferences when you can play Kent State, Akron, other garbage MAC teams and a FCS team 10 weeks into the season
I salute LSU for playing the TOUGHEST out of conference schedule in the SEC annually for the past 5-6 years

The sole purpose of the BCS is to match up the 2 best teams for the BCS championship
oh man... you did not just say this... you're out of touch with reality...
yes, ideally that is the GOAL of the BCS... but you are saying "we all know Alabama is #2, so they should be in the NC game"... but if THAT is what the BCS is about... why all the computer rankings?
you guys who defend the BCS system want to have your cake and eat it too... you want to support the "system"... which is about objectively MEASURING how good each team in CFB is on a level-playing field, in order to come up with #1 vs. #2...
but on the other side, you want to throw out the "system" and say... well, we all know who the two best teams are...
no matter what happens... IF OSU beats Oklahoma... you guys have a problem trying to hold on to your position...
the reason it is SO easy to pick apart any argument you guys throw at me, simply by employing REMEDIAL LOGIC... is because i am speaking from a position of extreme strength, while you are speaking from a position of extreme weakness...
i am wrong sometimes... and when somebody has an argument i can't refute, they win...
you're not going to win this argument! because you can't... the position you are taking is UNTENABLE (look it up!)...

BOOM!
why is it that somebody like Laroja (and others) refuses to see this?... last year all they could talk about was how Boise doesn't deserve a shot because they have played such a weak schedule... and here we are 1 year later, and because it is their PRECIOUS ALABAMA... they have lost all reason and refuse to acknowledge how ridiculously WEAK Alabama's schedule is...

Just in case you need to see these teams offenses in perspective...here they are for Alabama
Kent State - 120 out of 120 teams Ole Miss - 115th North Texas - 103rd Vandy - 96th Tenn - 102 PSU - 94th UF - 101st Miss State - 87th Arkansas - 26th LSU - 62nd
Auburn 104th
avg oppenent ranked Offense - 91st...take out Arkansas and LSU and
its the 102 ranked off avg...UA still has the explosive Auburn Tigers
and their 93rd ranked offense to further pad their pseudo defensive
rankings. Alabama has faced beyond DISMAL offenses. It is not hard to
put up the type of defensive stats that they have put up. Yes they have a
stout defense but the level of competition they have played is
absolutely dismal and disgusting!

If Mike Gundy realizes and publicly admits that 'Bama is better than his Cowboys, then nothing that you or anyone else has to say about it really matters.
Like it or not, an SEC team is about to be crowned BCS champions for the SIXTH year in a row.

Its okay they weren't winning championships in the 80s and won only 2 in the 90s. The past 5 years without the SOS component which was taken out in the early 2000s...BCS has shown that it favors the SEC. Its okay, next year UGA, UF, and Tennessee will be much better and Alabama will not be. They will beat each other up and everyone will have 2 losses...just like it was back in the 90s and early 2000s. Outside of LSU running the conference, the SEC will be a slugfest for every team.

He did qualify his statement with the words "right now". Should they hammer OU, I have a feeling he will be singing a different tune next week.

I like Mike Gundy but I can't see what he was thinking when he said that. If I was an OSU player and/or fan,I'd be pissed. It just doesn't serve the Cowboy's best interest in any capacity to make that statement.
