To all Florida Backers:
Can you guys please give me your reasoning for laying 7.5 points on  Florida @ Neyland stadium?  I see everyone of you have mentioned Crompton.  Do you think the coaches know they dont have Peyton Manning behind center??  Let me clue you in on SEC football a little bit.  SEC football is not won by passing the ball.  SEC is and will be about running the ball and playing good defense.   Are you worried that Florida's offense was held in check last week vs a real defense? 

GL with your Florida bets I am confident in my Tenn. bet

Auburn's offense is always tragic it seems, sometimes they come around late in the season.

humbolt- They usually have a typical SEC offense that is good running the football with a good running back.  I dont think they even have that this year, well atleast for now.  They may come together later in the year.  If you read a post i made about Tony franklin earlier in the post you will see what im saying.  @ Troy his teams started averaging 30 points/game after week 8 but struggled badly through the 1st 7 weeks.

Quotes out of Tenn and Florida this week:
"I don't think they respect us one bit," Gerald Jones said when asked if he felt the Gators respected them. "A lot of people probably don't, but we are going to earn our respect come Saturday."

Florida players were quoted after last year's blowout in The Swamp as saying the Vols quit late in the game.

Middle linebacker Brandon Spikes reiterated those sentiments to members of the media this week, telling Florida Today:

"They kind of gave up," Spike said after Monday's practice. "Our whole program is about, backed up against the wall, you've got to keep fighting. We saw them give up.. .. They quit playing. I know they are going to be pretty jacked up (this time)."

Nobody wants to be called a quitter, and that's especially true in the sport of football. Saying that the other man gave up is worse in many ways than being able to boast about the final score. It cuts to the heart of the matter, and it's not surprising that Tennessee players take offense at the notion.

"Coach Fulmer doesn't like us to give bulletin board material, but when you say that, it's hard for me to take that," Tennessee's Arian Foster said of the topic. "Just from a personal level, my father growing up never allowed me to quit anything I did. I would get in trouble if I quit a video game or whatever. I've known guys on this team for years and none of them are quitters. I'm not sure what he was pertaining to or talking about. I guess the score was somewhat indicative of that, but it had to do with lot of other things. I'm not a quitter. My teammates are not quitters."

Florida @ Tennessee:  Tennessee +7.5  Tenn ML

Last week vs a real defense Florida managed 89 yards rushing averaging 3.9 yards/carry.  Leading rusher was of course Tim Tebow (55 yards). The highly touted transfer Emannuel Moody didnt even get 1 rushing attempt for the game."I didn't know what was going on," he said. Thats a quote from Moody after the game.  Key this week for Tenn to beat Florida is to stop the run. They have been pretty good so far this year doing it, holding UCLA to 31 yards rushing avg .9yards/carry. I think teams are figuring out how to stop Tebow.  Miami's defense held him to 55 yards, Michigan last year in the bowl game held him to 57 yards @ 3.6/carry.  UGA held him to -15 yards.   The last 4 Florida losses (some of you tend to forget they were a 4 loss team last year) Tebow was held under 75 yards rushing and that will certainly be what Tenn will look to do. Tennessee hasn't lost @ home since November of 2006. 


The Tennessee secondary already has 6 interceptions over 2 games.  Led by play maker Eric Berry  @ Safety who is only a sophomore and will be a sure 1st round pick in the nfl whenever he leaves. I think Tennessee's DB's will line up well vs a mediocre receiving core of Florida.  The only play maker being Percy Harvin .On offense for  Florida they are missing 2 of there top 5 receivers from last year (Ingram is out for the year i believe and Caldwell is gone). If they double Percy Harvin and  spy Tebow on every play  (which they will do) they will have  success. 


Florida defense has looked great so far this year right?  Of course you look good against Hawaii and Miami .  Last year their defense gave up on average 25 points/game. 114 yards rushing in SEC games and  256 yards  passing/game in the SEC.  Now please tell me why they are the media favorite to make the national championship when they lost 1 of the best playmakers on defense in Derek Harvey from a defense that was ranked 98th against the pass 46th overall.  They lost 4 games last year including the bowl game to Michigan. The game vs Miami was a lot closer than the score indicates, it was 9-3 going into the 4th quarter before Florida put up 17 in the 4th.





Florida was 5-3 in SEC play last year.

Let me add to my Florida  @ Tenn write up:

There is a reason I left Crompton out of this write up, because they will limit him passing the ball.  Im not concerned about him at all in this game. When he does pass you better watch out for Lucas Taylor & Gerald Jones.   Tennessee returns everyone on the offensive line from last year.  This is the same offensive line that was blocking for Arian Foster last year when he got 1200 yards rushing, 12 tds and averaged 4.9/carry.  Arian Foster is 88 yards from passing Jamal Lewis for the 3rd spot on the most yards rushing by a Tenn running back. He will also take the top spot away from Travis henry by the end of the year

Heres a good nugget from Rivals:
The Number -39 - That's the number of times on average that Phillip Fulmer's team has run the ball in wins over the Florida Gators. In those four wins, Tennessee is averaging 189.5 yards on the ground. In their last four losses, the Vols have averaged just 48 yards on the ground and just 25.5 rushing attempts.

You live in Knoxville and pick the Gators to win. Thought picking anyone other then ROCKY FLOP in Knoxville is a capital offense. Be careful the VOL police will be looking for you.

I'm still up in the air on Fla/Tenn and I like Ole Miss in this spot.  They impressed me at Wake and it's about time for Vandy to be Vandy (especially on the road).  GL my man!

Miami - 37 attempts, 61 yards

It wont be hard for the Gators to stack the box when they know Crompton can't complete passes.  I was at the game against UAB and the crowd started boo'ing Crompton when he started missing receivers.  If he doesn't get it going early and the crowd turns on him again, it's over.

What about when Florida lines up Chris Rainey or Brandon James as a WR, or Louis Murphy, or Aaron Hernandez? You have to be joking if you think by having double coverage on Harvin and spying Tebow you will win you the game. 

DYounger... how would you rank the SEC top 5 right now?  and of these 5, who would you consider a legit national title contender?

Like the card.  My lean is to UF in this one, but cant say I dont see a value in Tenn other than Fulmer is coaching Tenn.  I also think Vandy/Ole Miss is a tossup so why not take the points.

I like a ton of games outside the SEC this week.

i cant believe I missed Arkon starting out as a 7 point fav to Army.  its up to 10.5 now.  Missed some value there.

Concentrating mostly on dogs now.  Looking for some nice ML hits.

dfk-All the guys you stated are good players, not play makers.  Not above average and not below in my opinion.  If you want to stop the Florida offense you stop Tebow/Harvin from running the ball and stop the passes to harvin the rest of the guys dont scare me. You make it seem like Crompton hasn't thrown a complete pass yet this year.  I'll give you he is no Peyton, but he is serviceable in my opionion when you have such a great rushing attack in Foster and Hardesty.  When he does have to throw the ball it doesnt hurt that he has 2 very good receivers in Lucas Taylor and Gerald jones. 

I appreciate you guys giving me feedback about your side of the game.  I happen to just be pretty set on who I am betting in this one. I feel very good in this game, that is why i will be on the ML also.If you win i will give you props about it this week, GL fellas

Shepard- Im not going to waste my time trying to point out the edges i feel Tenn has in this game.  I think Tenn defintely has a defense edge in this game all around.  GL to you in your bet on this game

I am going to rank the teams, now wins/losses may not reflect it because of difficult schedules. Here they are:
1. Georgia (Call me a Homer, but i think they are solid at every position across the board)
2.Florida
3.LSU
4.Alabama
5.Tenneesee

Jp1lsu-  I am digging outside of SEC this week trying to find something that stands out to me and there isn't much.  Alot of it has to do with me not following many conferences outside of SEC. There are about 10 teams i follow outside of the SEC but other than that i stick within the conferenceI am also looking for some good ML bets this week
